I love small town life compared to the big city... Seems we have our own little scandals but they don't REALLY make the news unless charges are brought up or someone gets shot.

I'll create the poll in a bit, just want to get the topic rolling first.

 

Since a news story usually would involve interviews with the actual people involved and would be nothing but useless gossip if published in the media, so the local newspaper is in a bit of a stand still on the story... But that doesn't mean that the power of free speech needs to be with held. The newspaper has an obligation to withold names.. GF on the other hand, does not.

 

So, I will state at this point I do in fact know the name of the teacher and I do know the name of the student. And, if I WANTED to, I could post their pics as well.

 

But is that really neccesary ?

 

Here is an ethics question for you all.. A teacher fucks a student who is 18, what do you do about it ?

 

In this case, the teacher was a female, and the student a male... big deal ?

 

What if it was a male teacher ?

 

Legal age in Nebraska, and most other states, is 16.

 

Some states younger.

 

But there is no law, at least no REAL law prohibiting your OCCUPATION. But should there be ?

 

What if this woman was a banker ?

 

It would NEVER be news if the woman was a banker.

If they're in a position of trust or authority, or if they are in an occupation that deals directly with children, or some shit like that, it is easy for people to look at as taboo and the perpetrator as slimy. There are also numerous places where it is illegal for people with said occupations to have an affair with persons under 18 years, despite the age of consent being (much) lower.

I am not aware of a law that is against this when it pertains to a teacher, however just about every school I have ever heard of has rules against it.

 

If it were my child, male or female I would have concerns about them being involved with someone so much older. At 18 what is a teenager aware of...as well as, why would the adult want to be involved with someone so much younger. I wouldn't want my childs first sexual experience to be with someone who choose them in order to be able to manipulate them.

I might not want my child involved in such a relationship but that doesn't mean her employer had the right to fire her. I bet the local Christians are freaking out though and sort of forced the issue...NICE. Ruin this persons career over this.

 

I hope she gets an attorney and sues...only because that is the only way to teach people a lesson in this day and time.

Age is not the problem in this situation. The power dynamic is the problem. A college professor can be fired for sleeping with one of his or her students, so of-course a high school teacher can. The teacher should have known that. That was her own stupidity. Wait until the person is no longer a student at the school you teach at if you want to screw them. It is that simple.

I never had a teacher that was worth nailing. But if i did have and i nailed her now and i'm 40 and she's 63 would she get in trouble? After all she was my teacher.

 

There was a teacher who wanted to nail me though...this i know because almost everyday she made me sit in the hall, or go to the office. And i'm sure it wasn't because i was a bad kid, it was because i made her wet.:o

 

Unless it was because she was short and i was tall, because short people by nature have an inferiority complex...kinda like little dogs.
