snafu Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 Underneath this wooden cross there lies A Christian killed in battle. You who read, Remember that this stranger died in pain; And passing here, if you can lift your eyes Upon a peace kept by human creed, Know that one soldier has not died in vain. RoyalOrleans Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 I served, my brothers served, my father served, my uncles served, my grandfather served, and the list goes on and on. Needless to say, the Men-folk in my family are either career military men or served a few years here and there. My family, myself included, LOVE this country. To me, there is no greater a nation... no greater a power than the United States. I served for four years in the USMC and fought in several small skirmishes. One of them I took a life and another ended in a melee. The point is, I was ready to give my life to this country. Not to George Bush (The first Bush), but I was ready to die for the cause, for the freedom of others, and the inalienable rights so many take for granted. I will never forget. TheJenn88 Posted October 8, 2005 Posted October 8, 2005 I hate war. I hate that people serve in war. I hate that people die in war. But to knowingly be ready to sacrifice your life for millions of people you've never met, that either makes you very foolish and naive, or brave and strong (depends what your motives are) 1 Quote
DizzyME Posted October 8, 2005 Posted October 8, 2005 A person can be grateful for the sacrifices made without agreeing with the reasons they occured. Quote
snafu Posted October 8, 2005 Author Posted October 8, 2005 Well DizzyMe can you agree that you live in a better, safer and freer world because of those sacrifices? If so is'nt that a good enough reason to go to war? Quote "You can't stop insane people from doing insane things by passing insane laws. That's just insane!" Penn & Teller NEVER FORGOTTEN
