ToriAllen Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 Equality of peoples is a preception. While yes, there are those among us who are more capable in certain respects, wither they be natural or obtained, it is the one who precieves the person as 'superior' (As a "Better" human sort of speek) that gives them the power of class. Socially in-equality seems to be something horrible socialized in us, I certainly don't see why logically one cannot be considered equal simple because they are more capible. Komrade Vostok Hazard Posted October 25, 2005 Posted October 25, 2005 Ok sorry. ToriAllen Posted November 5, 2005 Posted November 5, 2005 Ok, let's finish this. I know what you point you are trying to make, but you're wrong. I'm not a professional etymologist, but I know that the word proletariat is derived from the Latin word 'proletarius', and it was actually used firstly by the French. I also know that Marx used the phrase "lumpen proletariat" to describe the working classes in Germany, way back in the 1800's. As for plebeian/plebian - it's derived from the Latin also. So this English origination you speak of is imaginary. My initial point was only this - that in today's world (you know, the one we currently live in) the word pleb is commonly used to describe someone who is uneducated and vulgar, and the word prole is commonly used to describe the working class. Common usage, you know? A constantly transmogrifying phenomenon that's hard to track with dictionaries. In other words, a grey area. I get the feeling you think in black and white. But you might want to try lateral thinking, sometime. Also, as Socrates once said: "I am the wisest man alive, for I know one thing, and that is that I know nothing" Wow. I actually missed this one. I never said anything about an Quote Smart men learn from their own mistakes; Wise men learn from others. I refuse to engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed man.
