I have had dreams in black and white, but I have to wonder if thats not because they are happening at night. My eyesight is bad and I don't generally see much color at night unless its like a stop light or such. Like I would have a hard time telling you what color someones hair is or a parked car in the dark. I didn't realize how bad it was until my daugther startig talking about what she was seeing and I didn't see any of it.

I have heard that astigmatism can cause that, who knows.

Jenn, thats really cool that you dream in other languages.

a repeated theme in my dreams is the phone not working. I have alot of dreams where I need help and I can't get the phone to work...

When I was 15 I spent a night dreaming about a glass pitcher we'd left out in the shed out back my friend's house. We weren't supposed to have left it there.

The next morning the pitcher was by my bed and there was grass and dirt in my bed and on my feet.

Pretty scarey, cuz the shed was pretty far back of the house.

....

Another dream around that time was more strange. About the house next door that had been vacated, but a bunch of junk had been left inside. I woke up from this huge long dream full of detail of the inside of the house and dreaming of going through the place with my sister and friend. I described it to to them the next day, my sister said it was accurate - she'd been there when they moved. We went over and "broke in" (unlocked door) and it was as I'd described from my dream.

I used to talk in my sleep so loudly that others could hear it through a closed bedroom door. Thankfully, that too is over.

The funny part is that my ex would tell me how I would mimic other people while I was telling a tale in my sleep, and how surreal it was to hear other's voices coming from my sleeping mouth.

I've always been a good mimic. Weird to do it while sleeping!

Phreak, I sympathise.

Some nightmares I have are recurring.

Skater, I used to somnambulate most nights during my developmental years.

As for talking in your sleep, 'tis the very reason for my batchelor status.

Sleepwalked into another house a few times. Woke up on the couch with several curious faces staring at me.

One bloke berated his "guard dog" for curling up on the couch at my feet.

My son is somnambulent too. When we go camping, I sit up after he goes to bed, waiting for his wander. It's funny watching him try to stand up in his little dome tent, arms flailing. I call out and let him know he's not in an alien's womb, or anything strange like that, and he goes back to sleep.

I don't wonder why he pegs his tent down.

I used to, but not now. ;)

Persevere,

I read a post on here last night about how someone had been raped and answered it in the hopes the person would get some help. Phreak thinks its not real but anyway...I kept checking back to see if the person had come back to say anything else and damn if I didn't dream about the persons name.

Willow....

that name was in a dream last night several times.

I too suffer from 'dreams gone bad syndrome'. I'm not trying to be funny here. I have always had my good dreams go bad. It never fails. I have always heard about adolescent boys having 'wet dreams'. I have the same issue now that I did when I was an adolescent. Whenever, and I mean always, when i'm having a dream of a sexual nature it goes awry just before it gets good. My mind wanders to much and the girl i'm about to dream fuck turns into Dwight Cole (this black kid I went to high school with) or some fat amputee bitch with gingivitis. One minute i'm getting ready to bone a hot chick and then i'm falling down a bottomless hole then i'm in a parade then i'm washing a car I had 10 years ago. I often awake only to question my own sanity.

That don't make me gay does it?

Yes.

But anyway. My "dreams" if you want to call them that, are always recurring, they rarely change in theme. And it really gets to be a pain in the ass when your like me and sleep very little anyway. I used to love sleeping with the radio on, but now find it distracting. Can't do it with the TV either unless I am REALLY REALLY sleepy to the point I am daydreaming, then I find if I close my eyes I can dream the scene which is showing on TV before either waking up or finally slumping off. If I try it say after a long day, the TV just annoys me.

I have come to the conclusion that in order for me to rest well I need to let my brain get tired, then my body will follow. So if I go 3 or more days non stop, my mind starts to finally shut down out of confusion and I'll finally give in and sleep.

It works for me, be damn it fucks with your R.E.M. patterns.

Today I fell asleep in the sun, laying by the pool. I had ear phones on with Il Divo blasting, they are an Italian Opera group. I normally can't sleep unless its quiet and dark. Not today. I must have been more tired then I realized. I even started to dream. Unfortunately not about the gorgeous Italian men in Il Divo. The only thing that woke me was the CD ending...I have even fallen asleep in an MRI machine, the only thing that woke me was the machine stopping. Considering how people normally panic in those machines the girls in the office were well impressed...

Leth...it's funny to fall asleep in funny places, no?

I once fell asleep while standing halfway up a ladder.

Very embarassing at the time.

I think I only ever walked in my sleep those two times. (I hope) and...as far as I know, I don't talk in my sleep now either. I don't know what the Hell was going on with me that I'd talk so much or so loudly. I'd wake myself up sometimes from the sheer volume. I kinda miss it, in that my ex would wake me up laughing, cuz I'd crack jokes in my sleep too.

Sleep is funny.

I now go to sleep 30 seconds - 3 minutes of deciding to. This is handy.

I fell asleep when I had an MRI done a few years ago. I had headphones with the radio on, and just drifted off.....

I have fallen asleep sitting on a tennis court, at meetings for work, trainings, AT work, driving (once-learned my lesson when I came within a few feet of a guard rail on the highway)....

I have sleep-walked (grammar?) a few times, woke up on the couch when I went to sleep in my bed...very weird. I talk in my sleep on occasion still, but not as much as when I was a kid.

I had a nightmare about five years ago that really fucked with my head.

I was at my parents' house, and I was walking out of the bathroom. My father and brother (who was only 11 at the time) were in the kitchen. Pete the fat kid from school ran in through the sliding glass door with a machine gun and shot them both. I just stood there. I couldn't move from that spot. It was terrible.

I didn't sleep for several days, and my sleep was erratic at best for at least a month. I was afraid of going to sleep and having that nightmare again.

Sleepwalkers absolutely creep me out. It comes across as totaly pyschopathic. I was at a freinds house several years ago and he had told me that his then ten year old son had issues with sleepwalking. Well I was at his house smoking out at about 1 am, just chilling and playing PS2. Well his kid walks right through he middle of the room from his bedroom to the kitchen and proceeds to pull his pants down and starts pissing on the floor like hes in the bathroom. Fuck I was so high and just busted a gut laughing. It was like the most insane thing i've ever seen.

theres a book on dreams and what they mean.

I've never put much stock in that because symbols that mean one thing to me would mean something completely different to someone else.

For instance when I'm happy I often dream of lots and lots of kittens, the ground is crawling with them, all colors. I sit down among them and play with them till my hearts content.

For someone who hates cats or people who fear them, that would be a nightmare but to me its wonderful. When I wake up I can remember all the colors, watching them play, roll around and it makes me smile. Not everyone would feel that way.

A couple of times in my teens I went out to the kitchen, made some sandwiches and a cup of milo, and left them there and strolled back to bed.

The last time I somnambulated, I was driving through the desert, and pulled over for a camp. I woke up chest deep in the only watercourse for hundreds of miles. I found my car by pure luck. It was a pitch-black night.

Oh... man! I know that feeling. Yesterday, I was already semi-drunk, I got my haircut from this real sexy asian girl. I nearly fell asleep three times as she ever so gently stroked my head (heh heh).

I keep having this strange dream about a baby with an apple in its hand, only all I see is the arm and hand with the apple. It seems bigger then life, waving furiously, almost chasing me, beckoning me. For some strange reason I am threatened by this baby's arm, like it could hurt me. I wonder if one of these nights it will catch me...

Yah the fruedian bullshit that long dominated psychology has been mostly dismissed as shit. The "Book fo dreams" tonon speaks of is out of date. We now know that you're correct Leathel, dreams and their meanings are unique to the indivduel. Frued just imposed his own fucked-up-ness as 'common' characteristics among humans. (Cocaine addict with the hots for his 14year old nease.)
