angie Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 We have a new director at work. Relatively new, she started in September. Uppity bitch. Several of the parents refer to her as the "daycare Nazi" (sorry Fullauto). Workaholic, takes work waaay to seriously, has little life outside of work, needs to get laid. Well the dumb bitch almost stepped over some serious boundries last week. Here's just a little bit of background before I go on my rant-about six weeks ago, we had to do a Mandated Reporter Training with DCF. Well, the topic of discipline came up, and here's the scoop on that-In CT, if you hit your kid, AS LONG AS YOU DON"T LEAVE A BRUISE/MARK, it isn't considered child abuse. Plain and simple. One of the women I work with brought her 5 year old daughter to our center Friday. She goes to school/daycare in a different town, so she doesn't usually come except on holidays/school closings. Well, Lexi was being a BRAT that morning. As in, screaming temper tantrum at 5:30 am, dumping all her clothes out of her drawers, throwing OPEN boxes of Nerds from Halloween all over her bedroom, because she didn't like the shirt she was wearing. So Michelle, for the first time EVER, smacked her. Sounds reasonable, right? You would've done the same thing, right? Thought so. Well, of course she had a bit of a red mark on her skin, cause you always do after gettin' smacked by Mommy for being a brat. Michelle freaked out and didn't want to take her to daycare because she was afraid they would call DCF. Needless to say, by the time she got my our center, the mark was gone. No big deal, right? Well, Michelle made the mistake of telling the daycare Nazi the real reason she brought her. Well, dumb bitch came seconds away from calling DCF on her for child abuse. WTF is that shit?? The kid was being a brat, she smacked her, end of story. No abuse. Luckily, the assistant director managed to talk her out of it. But COME ON. BEYOND RIDICULOUS. And then, she left work at 11 am, because she had a "rough day". (Michelle had gone and tore her a new asshole when she thretened to call DCF on her) Bullshit. Brought it upon yourself biotch. Outlaw2747 Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 Now if that isn't a thumb-sucking big baby liberal then I dunno what is. I bet she is one of those knuckledraggers that would let her kids run around the train tracks and not give a damn. I hate it when overzealous rejects try to play fucking hero. RoyalOrleans Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 This is the exact reason I would not put any of my children in daycare. I mean, it works for some people. However, I'm paranoid about the whole idea of dropping my kid off for eight to ten hours a day. However, I'm paranoid about the whole idea of dropping my kid off for eight to ten hours a day. I had to put mine in daycare for a couple of years and it tore me apart. I worried constantly. I have to say that its pretty frightening that DCF would say its not considered child abuse if it doesn't leave a mark. There are alot of ways to hurt a child and not leave a mark. I'm just glad Diane does'nt have to go anymore. People in daycare centers are undertrained and those that are good at what they do aren't paid enough. I would love to have another child but not if I had to put the child in Daycare. Luckily with Diane I was able to be at home with her until she started kindergarten and then she was in daycare for only 2 years. My work schedule and the part of the year I was laid off meant that I didn't have to put her in for the last year. Quote I am a pathetic piece of shit leeching single mom.

Luckily, I have a sister who is a homemaker and my sister in law is a homemaker and a mother who is at home all day. At least, I know I could leave my kid with either one of them for the day. ...and they'd be glad to have him/her. My future in law doesn't work right now. My mother is home two days every other week. I feel this way for a variety of reasons. Mostly I don't want someone else raising my daughter. I want to be there as much as possible, but we shall see. I'm hoping we can live off one income or I can work part time. Like some, but not all, my family is warm and inviting. I know my kid would be safe with them. I wish my mother could be the one with her all the time, but she works and is nowhere near retirement (she's only 44). One of my biggest problems with daycare? SIDS. I've seen them put infants to sleep on their stomach (BIG no no), and they are supposed to check on them every 5 minutes. Does it happen? Not always. And that worries the crap out of me. I feel like family would be much more likely to respect my wishes of how she is put to sleep, etc, not to mention more attentive because they would only have HER to watch, not her along with a bunch of other children. builder Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 When my boy was three, his mum was having some dramas, so he stayed with me for a few months. I had no option but to place him in daycare. I was lucky in that I was self-employed, and working close by, so I would drop in for morning tea, and take him for a walk at lunchtime. The staff were great, and come Saturday, my boy would ask me how come he wasn't going to "school" today. He absolutely loved it. Mind you, nine hours is a long day, and he really looked forward to seeing my face in the evening. His eyes would light up, and he'd show me what he had made or drawn that day. Angie, just how does such a bitch stay in a job she is clearly not suited for? Is there a shortage of staff in that line of work? Quote Persevere, it pisses people off.

Exactamundo, chica! My mother used to work, my sister put a halt to her career until her two kids are old enough to catch the bus to school, and my sister-in-law only works part time and mainly at night when my brother is home. I'm not without options, but nothing beats spending as much time as possible with your kids. No matter how busy, tired you are.
