phreakwars Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 Jesus Christ, here it is, a bit over a week to go till Thanksgiving and I still haven't planned my menu.. I need help before Friday hits and I do all my shopping. I usually make about 12 or so courses, here is what is planned FOR SURE so far: Turkey, Turtle Pie, and a Veggie Pizza (made with dough from my pizza job the day before) as an appetizer (yum). And that's about it so far. . . Quote https://www.facebook.com/phreakwars
Vortex Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 in my book thanksgiving is always a no brainer Turkey mashed potatoes gravy stuffing (stove top is always ok) corn (or your choice of veggie) cranberry something (for those of you who like that crap) dinner rolls (or something like it) pumpkin pie whipped creme wine/beer/milk what have you.. menu done my favorite meal of the year! RoyalOrleans Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 The menu at my parent's house, where my cousins, uncles, aunts, etc, gather every year usually consists of... turkey beer dressing whiskey corn mashed potatoes red wine pumpkin pie more beer cigarettes cigars cranberry sauce gravy rum a variety of deserts even more beer and to top it all off... my Uncle Benny removes his glass eye and puts it in the mashed potatoes. builder Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 The Simpsons had their Thanksgiving on the tv tonite. Bart does a runner with Santa's little helper, and plays the sympathy card. Good value, that episode. Quote Persevere, it pisses people off.
angie Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 Turkey, mashed taters, green bean casserole, apple pie. That's all I know of. Mamacita is doing it at her house this year. Who knows what else she has planned. Quote http://www.darwinawards.com/ http://www.snopes.com http://www.breakthechain.org STOP THE SPAM!! Click Me You Know You Want To
Lethalfind Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 I'm going to the Magic Kingdom, there will be no huge fat filled meal at my house. We will eat at the counter service where they serve a cheap version of Thanksgiving meal. We will watch the lighting of the Christmas tree, singing carols with Mickey and Minne Mouse, all in 75-80 degree weather. I absolutely love Florida... I think about the hours of cooking time and clean up time spent on a meal that is so fat laden that it should never be eaten. If this is all people do to celebrate Thanksgiving then we have forgotten the point of the holiday. I know in my family in Texas thats what they do. Then they lay around watching TV the rest of the day because they have eaten themselves into a stupor. I love going out and meeting new people, enjoying the sights and walking. Disney is always packed on holidays so its very interesting. I had thought about going to the beach as well but I think Diane will want to go to Disney instead. phreakwars Posted November 15, 2005 Author Posted November 15, 2005 If this is all people do to celebrate Thanksgiving then we have forgotten the point of the holiday. Ahh, bullshit !! We spend our time watching our fucking weight, diet, exercise and what have you so we can spend Thanksgiving fucking pigging out.. To me Thanksgiving is that holiday that was made to celebrate togetherness after the harvest (or 40 hour a week job) with your fellow man by feasting your ass off. Then kickin back and passing out. . . Quote https://www.facebook.com/phreakwars

To me Thanksgiving is that holiday that was made to celebrate togetherness after the harvest (or 40 hour a week job) with your fellow man by feasting your ass off. Then kickin back and passing out. . . I can see that and maybe it works that way in your family. It does'nt in mine. There is no togetherness. Its simply an excuse to get together and put one more nail in their coffins...My Father died of a heart attack in 99, his weight was partially responsible. At the same time my Dad was waking up after his triple bypass my Mother had a heart attack, she survived, he did not. The next summer my Brother had a cardiac incident AND my nephew almost died of heart related problems (who is 7 years younger then I am)...Luckily I am adopted and don't share their medical problems. My family doesn't watch what they eat EVER. Thanksgiving in my family is an excuse to over eat, there is no fellowship involved. Then because everyone has overeaten they take a nap because their brains are telling them to shut down so the body can assimilate all the food they have eaten. Then men watch football...Thats just not a fun day to me. Everyone has to celebrate differently. I make no judgement on other peoples choices. HOWEVER, my daughter and I have had the best time doing things together on holidays rather then sitting in front of a plate to shovel food in our mouths. Would I rather see my daughter holding her hands up screaming on her favorite roller coaster or watch her eating at the table?? Give me the roller coaster any time. I will be at home for Christmas and I'm not looking forward to it at all. I will have to get up and get out of the house, find something fun to do. My family has chosen to live a very sedantary lifestyle and its killing them off one at a time. I have made the choice to live life rather then eating my way through it. snafu Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 Thanksgiving and Christmas is the times when my whole family gets together. Between my parents and two brothers we have quite a large family. eisanbt Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 Its tuff being a vegitarian during the holidays, I don';t give a shit what other people are eating but when 90% of the meals being served are litterally covered in meat I'm usually left eating nothing but mashed Potatoes. (Which are good, but still..) I was once at a dinner where the main course was a pasta with your choice of 3 sauces, all of which were meat sauces. Why couldn't they have made a cheese sauce, or mushroom or bah. Anyhow, I was left with noodles and salt. YUM! We already had our thankgiving up here, I never made it home so I guess that bullet was avoided. ToriAllen Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 Corn Casserole Very good and easy to make. One of the few things that I enjoy making.... Preheat oven to 350 2 cans cream corn 2 cans whole corn 1 tablespoon of flour 1/2 cup of sugar 3 eggs 1/2 onion chopped salt and pepper Optional: Chopped red bell pepper for color Mix ingredients together and pour into an 8x8 glass casserole dish. Bake for one hour. DO NOT OVER COOK. Cut small thin slices of butter to put on top of the finished casserole. They should be thin enough to melt completely and cover the top. angie Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 I enjoy sitting around, eating, hanging out with the family, and watching football. And exception of this year drinking beer. No one in my family is overweight (except my abuela, from her meds) but we sure as hell like to eat. Must be good genetics. Bonus is, we all get along. Thanksgiving isn't a huge thing in my family, usually just the parents, siblings, and Abuela. CHRISTMAS on the other hand, is packed house, enough food for an Army, and half the family ends up drunk. Good times. Quote http://www.darwinawards.com/ http://www.snopes.com http://www.breakthechain.org STOP THE SPAM!! Click Me You Know You Want To
Lethalfind Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 Thank god my out of control family doesn't drink. I can just imagine how much worse things would have been if they had been drunk and disorderly... Quote I am a pathetic piece of shit leeching single mom.
angie Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 You never know....it can go either way. 1) They'd get drunk, argue, and kill each other 2) Expirience the "I love you, man"s and end up happy. I have seen my broher drink he has to drink alot before he has the I love you thing and my sister gets morose (sp?)... It would be a recipe for disaster. I'm the only one who gets nicer when I drink. I get really friendly. I plan on doing some drinking while I'm there or I would never get through it... My Father and Mother didn't drink and for religious reasons don't believe in it. All their kids drink but its not normally done under my Mothers nose. Although when they were here last we went out and I got pretty happy at my birthday dinner. My Mom kept saying I was drunk, I only had one Long Island Iced Tea. I can put away 6-8 in an evening with food and still be walking...I kept telling her that I was just happy, stupid cow.
