Don't Ever Ask Me To Chip In On Christmas Gifts.

Before this gets all bent out of shape, this thread is directed at employers and bosses.

This morning, I was asked by a co-worker (Worker I use loosely, she mostly stands around and chomps gum.) to chip in to get our boss (Phil the General Manager) a gift for Christmas. I said "No.", the same answer I have given every single Christmas and every single birthday. She gave me an "evil eye" and scurried off. I jumped in my truck and headed out.

My reasons for not chipping in...

1. Phil is a pompous ass.

2. He cheats on his wife.

3. He talks down to customers and co-workers.

4. Told me I had an attitude problem, but has NEVER EVER initiated a conversation with me.

5. Drives a SAAB.

6. Did I mention, he's a pompous ass.

7. Wears CK1.

How do you feel about the "chip in" for the boss or anyone you can't stand?

I had that problem at my job with the insurance company, I wanted to chip in to buy my boss a gun to kill herself with...thats about it. I couldn't stand her. She was alot shorter then me and I used to fantasize about how one punch would probably knock her on the ground. BUT I worked in this 'professional' office enviroment where we all had to play nice. I hated being put in that position. I and a friend of mine were in charge of the sunshine fund that collected money every month like 4 bucks a month and bought small gifts for the real working people. When Christmas came, my bitch boss came to us and asked if we had purchased gifts for the managers. Of course we hadn't because no one liked them and we didn't think we should spend the money that way. We were in a corner so we picked out some very nice Hallmark keepsake ornaments for each of them, very fitting for each person only nice (not a dead rat for example). They turned their noses up like we had offended them. Fuck em is what I say. I'm with RO, I won't participate in things like that. If I like someone then I will buy them a gift, otherwise they get coal in their stocking with my name .on it

well my boss is accually closing down the store to take the entire staff to a mansion in the country where there'll be tons of free booze then busing us back at 4am and unleashing us on the city.

I think it's a waste of time. THEY'RE YOUR FUCKING CO-WORKERS, NOT YOUR FAMILY. They're a bunch of jackasses you have to put up with day after day. Putting up with their crap is a big enough gift.

I'm with you there Komrade...I thought me not knocking that little bitch into next week was the best present I could give her...

Now thats a boss that understands positive reinforcement. As in "if I treat my employees like human beings instead of like trash, they will like me and enjoy working here".

Fuck chipping in for the boss if he is a dick. It should serve as a message as to how their employees perceive them.

Take my wife's boss for instance... nobody in her department likes her, she is mean and cold to the employees, she yells at them constantly, and kisses ass with the head honchos... production in her department is HIGHER when she is not around simply because morale is higher from employees not being stressed out by this woman.... however, every year one of her kiss ass workers will walk around taking up donations to buy the bitch a Christmas present...

If it were me.... AHHH HELL NO...

At my work they ask for bosses gift money, and the bosses usually buy what they want all year. So they said years ago take the gift money and give to those who need it. So our office collect the money then they donate to the center for survivors and get names off the wish trees and buy for those people. Last year and this there doing more with troop families in need. They get a pretty good amount of money due to our bosses donate to there own Christmas fund. Over all we have pretty good bosses you take care of them there not afraid to share the wealth.

One of my old bosses was a pretty cold asshole. Some employees tried to buy him a gift one year so he just yelled at them and said "I'm your fucking boss, I make more then you and don't need it anyway!" So instead he just got everyone to chip in a buck every day or 2 from November 1st until December 20th into a little pot which would then go to a poor family as a christmas fund.

Asshole with a heart of gold. (He was accually a decent guy, just kinda rude and a little bitter, comically bitter though)

Phreak say's.... " I LIKE THIS GUY, sounds like a good boss "

I think the only bad boss I ever had wasn't so much an ass as incompetent, I didn't get my first paycheck for 6weeks and only ever seen him like twice a month.

I in fact suggested that but the little bitch boss that I worked with didn't like the idea because it wasn't enough of a show to the other departments. Then she came up with the idea of finding a poor family and parading them into the company to give them their gifts and taking pictures of us being so nice and putting them up on a bulletin board, again so it would be a big show for the rest of the company. It was then I realized that she wanted us to buy her and the people from management big presents just so she could go to the other departments and show them off saying look how our people LOVE us... they made me sick.

At our staff meeting last night, our boss tried to get us to do the Secret Santa bullshit again this year. We work in a daycare, we don't make lots of money. We said no. She still tried. Pain in my ass, she is. We finally decided that for the Xmas party, we would all just bring a dish and some booze (because I will NOT be pregnant, as long as I don't go past my due date). Oh, speaking of which, she threw a hissy fit because we wanted to do it in January. We all have family shit going on, some of us are going away, nobody has time to do it right now. Besides, we did it mid-January last year, and it worked out fine. That woman is such a royal pain in my ass.

Most people that don't have a life of their own, tend to be a pain in the ass this time of year.

She sounds a little like the cunt I used to work for.

She lived to work, so therefore she was a royal pain in the ass at work because that was what her whole life was about.

I work to live...very different.

The only chipping in I want to do is into the skull of whoever asked me such a retarded question. Stop being a fucking cheapass and just buy the damn gift yourself.

I want to report a double murder. If you go one mile east on Columbus Parkway to the public park, you will find kids in a brown car. They were shot with a 9mm Luger. I also killed those kids last year. Good bye

Brooks, I like you. Now get out of here. Go home.
