phreakwars Posted July 28, 2006 Author Posted July 28, 2006 Jim corrected his spelling of "tantamount" now, but still didn't post my comment. For the record, what was this slanderous, defametory comment that you made that he is not posting ?? Here's a thought... we could always get people to copy what they wrote and I'll put it in a HIDDEN forum out of the general publics eye, and only in the view of PREMIUM members, so we can see just how many posts are NOT getting posted. . . scout Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 This morning I posted this comment. Said it has been posted, but haven't seen it yet...... On the board as it was, you couldn't post without logging on with a password. Without the password you couldn't post as someone else. On the "Hot Topics" this precaution isn't taken, therefore you can post as anyone. As I see has happened to Kitty and Reality Check. On the board we knew who was saying what and when. We often referred to achieved posts to verify what had been discussed in the past. There were some detailed, well thought out presentations and discussions there. The trouble started when whole threads disappeared. The members, the ones that log on with names and passwords can only edit the posts (comments) we wrote. Only the board administrator can delete whole threads. When comments here, on the "Hot Topics", were posted but then removed, the integrity of the whole paper came into question. And now there is no longer a board. Quote
phreakwars Posted July 29, 2006 Author Posted July 29, 2006 See that's the thing he can't get through his thick skull, the forums were NEVER a problem. It was the hot topics section and the comments sections for the regular news stories.. And yes, I agree, the integrity of the whole website is compromised because of this. He can put all the security messures he wants on the forums, but it still won't fix what the real issue is. As I stated before, my solution is very simple: 1. Instead of having a HOT TOPICS column where you are withholding comments, why not create these "HOT TOPICS" in the forums, and pick out decent comments and paste them in the "HOT TOPICS" portion of the board. 2. The same goes with the comments section 3. Quit deleting archived posts in the forums. Some of us have put alot of effort into these comments over the years, to watch them all get wiped out, is a travesty.. You wouldn't like it if someone wiped out all the Telegram news article archives would you ?? So don't bitch if some of us chose to wipe out our own. Were just following in your foot steps... 4. Small town politics, are getting in the way of honest opinions Jim. You need to stop trying to withhold comments for the sake of the big boys, and let them see what people think... THIS is progress !! It's a very simple solution, and would require less effort on the part of the ADMIN, and would also ensure that we are seeing EVERYBODY'S comments. Hell, even better yet, he could put a post rating system in place so that posts that are shown in the hot topics, are those that OTHERS have voted for when it comes to relevance. It's not hard at all, anybody with a half ass knowledge of PhP could do it in less then 5 minutes. But then, that's asking too much from a board admin with a diploma from Platte College. It would probably take him 5 years to figure out how to do it. And as a SIDE NOTE: PHREAKWARS FOR TELEGRAM MODERATOR !!! HE'S THE MOST UNBIASED PERSON AROUND . . Mack the Knife Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 Numerous onlookers gathered on the west side of 27th Avenue between 12th and 13th streets to observe. Must be a slow news day.
