phreakwars Posted December 17, 2005 Posted December 17, 2005 So before I start this rant/debate, I'll have to say that the situation is a true story and I will give as much as I know in the info department which isn't much, about the case...(And no I am not speaking of anybody I am related to or my wife, nor are any of the parties involved OUR co workers. But anyways.... Employee is working his production area doing his job, has a machine problem or something like that, that needs the attention of maintenance, yadda, yadda yadda, whatever... well anyway, this persons bitchy ass supervisor comes up, and grabs this person on the shoulder and bitches at them to find something to do, and then makes some other sort of "BEAT MY CHEST" comment of authority to the employee.. The employee files a complaint with the company for, I can't remember what, maybe harassment... But anyways, what I am getting at here, is I realize being a supervisor calls for one to be a leader amongst men, and an example of how the company treats its employees. But, a lot of the workers say it's complete bullshit that a boss would place their hands on you for ANY fucking reason...... or is it ?? I mean shit happens.. but the guy was not assaulted by anybody....unless he was a complete pussy and it hurt.... but it was still an aggressive slam on the shoulder all around. . . . . ImWithStupid Posted December 17, 2005 Posted December 17, 2005 I'll just say that in my opinion, if you lay your hands on me in any manner that I interpret as being confrontational, chances are you will be either laying on the ground begging me not to dislocate one of the skeletal joints in your body or have a bloody nose. I can take an ass chewing fine if I did something wrong but never lay hands on me. Quote
builder Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 Even verbal intimidation in the workplace is wrong, phreakwars. If it gets physical, like a coach gets physical with a footballer, that shit is out the fucking window too. We're talking about mutual respect. If an employee fucks up, as we all do, ramifications are to be faced. A sound verbal thrashing, without threats of physical harm, and with clearly stated outcomes, is just fine with me. You want to get physical, or use your position or stature or size to intimidate me, then I will use every means at my disposal to bring you back to earth. If legal means don't do it, then I'm with IWS. Smack the fuck out of 'em. I'm not above chewing hunks off either, if that is what it takes. Quote Persevere, it pisses people off.
RoyalOrleans Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 I guess it depends on the situation and how much like/dislike your boss. If that dickless, piece of shit boss of mine laid hands on me for any reason, I'd put his lights out. If that hot receptionist at EPI in Duluth laid hands on me, I'd have to fuck her lights out. eisanbt Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 Respect is a 2way thing. Treat me like shit and you'll get shit back. A good supervisor should know this, if they don't then they should NOT be holding their position. I definitely don't take shit from anyone and don't kiss ass. I've had more than one supervisor that didn't like me because I wouldn't kiss his ass like most everyone else did. I will respect the position but not necessarily the person in the position. Quote
