Oh the fucking drama...

Well to let you in on one of the "SIMPLE LIFE" of Nebraska stories and shit we have to read in the local newspaper, I figured I'd put the issue HERE on GF and let people RATIONALLY discuss it..

Basically, one of the senators wants a bridge built

Here is a picture of where the proposed bridge will go:

Pros and Cons please then I'll put up a poll.

Makes more sence to me. If you live south of the bridge like I and some of my family do you'd know what a huge pain in the ass it is if the current bridge is out of service. Now you have to travel approx. 40 miles and hope that bridge is open. Put this project before all the crap of the viaduct decision and we would just be better off.

I'm not an engineer, but I believe a bridge should always be constructed over an obstruction such as a river.

LOL!!! You are a wise man RO.:D

Seriously though. I think this is a good idea as far as it would do some of the job that a south bipass would do. It could divert a lot of the northbound 81/ eastbound 30 or westbound 30/ southbound 81 around Columbus instead of through it. I have always said that I think a south bipass would divert more traffic from town then a north bipass anyway.

For those of you not from here that give a shit enough to read this, Columbus is the crossing point of Highway 30 (east/west) and Highway 81 (north/south). Both of these are highways that go from either coast to coast or border to border of the US. There is a shit load of truck traffic through town.

I'm not an engineer either, but I'll tender for the construction.

Persevere,

it pisses people off.

You also are wise, mainly in this care because you echo my thoughts. If our looser city counsel would get off (i said get off) the fucking viaduct issue, maybe they could work on something that matters. Put the fucking south bypass in blow off the north one. Yes if this bridge goes in it WILL hurt the town, your not routing around your going a differant direction. Arnie is trying to do what he signed up for, that is working for the people. Our city council is working for their interest not the town.

Well if you get the job..Welcome! But stay away from Little Bo's bar nothing but trouble there. But that's a differant issue.

It just may be one of the best things that could happen, not hurt Columbus, but put more pressure on building more realistic enterprises here. Haven't read the paper for awhile - anything new come up about this?

I haven't seen anything but unless it was online I would have missed it. I don't buy that rag anymore.

I guess what makes me laugh the most about it, is the fact that the reason they DON'T want it is because they fear losing business from the traffic that goes through.. Myself, I feel the exact opposite... LET traffic flow into the eastern side of town. Keep the fucking Semi' trucks out of general traffic in downtown Columbus.

We are fortunate enough to live in a town of our size that DOES have the option of controlling our general livelihood on a mass scale that affects the whole town..

Something that can't be accomplished in many metro area cities

Columbus seems to want to push the big business on the east side of town anyway. I say let it happen and keep the rest of the fucking town "HASSLE FREE" and uncongested.

Build the damn bridge.

I say that if you build it all the 25 county cars will not come into Columbus anymore. This would be good from a driving standpoint, but bad from a spending money in town standpoint. Trucks i'm all for keeping them out of town.

The only 25 county cars that it will keep out of town would be those that belong to the people from there that work at one of the east Columbus manufacturing plants. Anyone here for other work or shopping is still going into town and buy stuff. Where else are they gonna shop, David City?

It's not gonna cause a noticible lose of revenue from 25 county.

Build the bridge!

Well i say build a south bypass from 14 ave E to about Whitetail lake. Then you have a better choice, threw or around town.

Phreak has my vote for Mayor. But I W S you'll have to start kissing Phreak ass, cuz Mayor picks the administrator. But i'm sure you could'nt be any worse than that last idiot we had.
