tiredofwhiners Posted November 10, 2006 Author Posted November 10, 2006 in my house my wife's computer is plugged into the linksys router. When my oldest got her computer i tried to hook up the linksys wireless, and could never get it to work, even the barely English speaking help line could not figure it out. I ended up just routing a cable from the computer right to the router and then it worked fine. I returned the wireless slave and they said i must have a firewall messing it up. RegisteredAndEducated Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 Howdyho.... Ive got some problems, router ones...and im not quite sure what is wrong or if the fix is easy because i have no idea where to look.... The original way it was connected works just fine (Cable Modem connected to router, router connected to 2 desktop computers).... The problems come from when the 3rd computer was acquired....and a wireless router added to connect the laptop. Called the linksys help line thing and they had us go through several steps (like turning off some dhcp or something like that) and we had internet on all computers....for like 10 minutes. Then the Hard wired computers no longer could find websites. They recognized internet was connected...but couldnt get any websites to work. OH and the way it was connected was (Cable Modem to first router...first router to wireless router). If i terminate the connection between the 2 routers the hardwired computers work fine. The moment the wireless router comes back into the connection...bam no internet again... Anyone know what i should do? (or more info if you need it...sure you do) HEEEELLLLPPP!! PS....i figured it could be a software issue so i decided to "try" to install the new routers software and just going from the wireless one and removing the first router from the equasion all together. But it does the same thing (no internet on hard wired computer...but wireless is just fine). AND when going through the software installation on my hardwire computer it wont actually installl anything because it cant connect to the router.... ARGH! go HERE and type in linksys and search. Hey, "Non-believers" I've just got one thing to say to ya... If you're right, then what difference does it make, it wont matter when we're dead anyway... But if I'm right... Well, hey... Ya better be right...
snafu Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 Uninstall the first router from the main computer. You don't need two routers. Then install the sofware for the wireless router on that computer. Make sure all firewalls are turned off. Like windows xp and any other one you might have. Get that one computer up and running. Then connect the second computer. And last the wireless. Like eddo said you can also get wireless ethernet cards for the desktops. Vortex Posted November 17, 2006 Posted November 17, 2006 here is how it turned out... the other 2 (who can barely boot a computer themselves) conspired to call the help line (which i was only gonna do as a last resort because linksys outsources to another country...and the employees on the help line seem to have a bad attitude (dealt with them a few times before)).. So they spent 4 hours on the phone to get 2 downloads and one static ip change....(from what i could tell from their retelling of the story) All fixed....one router...and all i had to do is wait Life is good....(at least i didnt have to have someone talk to me in a condescending tone for 4 hours like they did.....because i dealt with that far too often when calling those types of help lines).... snafu Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 HOLY FUCK!!! Is there a spyware removal that can get rid of VirusBurst that you don't have to buy? These people that made this need to be hunted down and shot!!! FUCK! VirusBurst, also known as VirusRescue and SpywareQuake, is another malicious rogue anti-spyware program that looks like a legitimate application for removal of spyware, but it installs a trojan in an attempt to trick you into buying the software. Once VirusBurst Trojan installs on your PC, it sends fake security messages stating that the PC is infected with spyware in order to trick you into buying the VirusBurst full version. Type in uninstall VirusBurst. See how many fucking spyware programs there are out there to get rid of something that spams you with anti-spyware! Check out how you have to do it manually. What kind of shit is this! Laws people we need better laws. Quote "You can't stop insane people from doing insane things by passing insane laws. That's just insane!" Penn & Teller NEVER FORGOTTEN

snafu Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 No I'm cleaning a friends laptop. I've taken 181 spyware, malaseware, trojans and shit off. I've taken 7 viruses off too. I've never come across this SHIT! before. I remember a different one before but it wasn't this hard to get rid of. (The one that would open your CD-Rom) I've run AD-Aware about 5 times. I've run spybot about the same. I ran AVAST also (it got the viruses) AD-Adware has gotton rid of this VirusBurst twice. So far it's not there now, but I'm running up dates. I fear when I rebot it will be back. This is what the pop up looks like. http://remove-virusburst.org/VirusBurst/Virus-Busrt-Removal-Guide.html?gclid=CO2o7ZGt64gCFSJnYwodsl_Opw Quote "You can't stop insane people from doing insane things by passing insane laws.
