Hugh G. Rekshun Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 Hell, that's easy. Die from lung cancer....you'll quit:) Quote "May you sit naked in Hell for all eternity with your tender rectum resting squarely upon the sharp end of a red hot barbed stalagmite, all the while you are tormented forever by hideous demons who force you to listen to endless Barry Manilow and Elton John duets of Ashlee Simpson's greatest hits, let this fate befall all those who so much as plagiarize one single word from my work"

Lethalfind Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 Afraid emphasema asked first. Did you actually read any of these posts? After Hugo asked the question I did some more reading and it seems there is a correlation in the amount of estrogen in a womans body and how her body reacts to the lung cancer cells if I remember correctly. The article I posted said that women who are on hormone replacement therapy are more likely to suffer from lung cancer, I don't remember the exact details. I have also used an albuterol inhaler for my asthma however I find that Advair helps alot more. How are they treating your emphysema Scout? Quote I am a pathetic piece of shit leeching single mom.
scout Posted March 30, 2006 Author Posted March 30, 2006 I read your articles with interest Lethal. Yes! Dr. Schullar at Creighton is the best! My family moved me back here 3 maybe 4 years ago when I was forced to quit working. One of my meds then was Advair. The Dr. here told me to stop taking it for 5 days because of a throat problem. I questioned that, but in the end stopped. I believe it was the 3rd day the ambulance came - I went down- they incubated me at Columbus(Doing a piss poor job of it I'm told) They ambulanced me to Creighton in Omaha and Dr. Schullar saved my life. He said DR. Clark saved my life by getting me to Omaha, he had just happened to be around while they were working on me in Columbus. I'm very leery of the Columbus hospital and the Dr's I've seen so far. When things get hairy in the ER I start demanding to go to Omaha! I take 9 pills and inhalers a day and am on constant oxygen. (Including Advair!) And keep in touch with Dr. Schullar by e-mail and phone. I have 13% lung capacity now. It won't be long. Do Not Feel Pity For Me. It's my lot in life and I accept it. I get a little embarrassed when I tell this stuff but if it will help someone to make that final decision not to smoke any longer, may my face glow red in the night time. Quote
scout Posted April 1, 2006 Author Posted April 1, 2006 Well, that was a bit much huh? I would to add onto it though. When I wrote that I had more in mind the "conclusions jumped to" than having people decide to quit smoking. (I do have a very nice time making comments to the kids I see smoking. What I don't like is having the thread end after I've written something like this, you've done this before. Don't do it again! Quote

I think thats fabulous that you frighten kids into NOT smoking...or at least try. I think you could have some real fun with that if you got bored or something...like standing right next to all the cigarettes at Wal-mart... Quote I am a pathetic piece of shit leeching single mom.
RoyalOrleans Posted April 1, 2006 Posted April 1, 2006 As a smoker, myself, I am constantly badgered about quitting. All the more reason to continue firing up the sweet little teets, but I don't encourage others and I certainly don't want to see kids doing it. Over sixteen? You can drive... might as well be able to smoke. Because the chances of you dying in a car crash are much higher than dying as a result of smoking related illnesses. Lung cancer and throat cancer, I don't want to get into, but I will say that it is mostly genetics, history of illness in the family. Not one of my family has EVER, EVER taken ill with cancer from smoking. And at one time all of them smoked and now a third of us still smoke. My grandmother is five and ninety years of age and still smokes one after a meal. On that note, the age of prohibition needs to be lowered down to eighteen nationwide. You are able to enlist in the Armed Forces, go to war, and put your life on the line for this country at eighteen. However, you can't get a beer at a TGIFridays? My Mom's side of the family was (most dead now) riddled with cancer of various types, no lung or throat though. Now they say lower back problems are caused by smoking. They'll recant that after several years go by. Like they did with the - dill pickles cause cancer thing. How can people believe anything the Health community has to say? Quote

scout Posted April 4, 2006 Author Posted April 4, 2006 I don't know if you'll understand this but, thanks. (I stole your cat picture) Quote
