Now if the owner of the site stated their personal opinion under their own name - that is NOT defamation. It is clearly opinion. Nor is the opinion of a third party the responsibility of the site owners. Only when the site representative acts in some manner that gives the impression they are speaking as fact and in an official capacity - such as the "idiot" banner - without being able to back up the statement with objective documented fact, with the intention to publicly ridicule - can the site owner be sued.

Boy, I sure am glad you clarified that for all of us on GF. Now that you have done so, I would like to add what an utter and complete idiot I and the vast majority of GF think you are, in our very BIASED opinion, and would also like to FINISH your stupid argument with a blast from the past : http://Off Topic Forum.com/showthread.php?t=85883

Clearly you can see that I identify myself and EVEN go so far as to give my home address. Now, if you gotta problem with me.. BRING IT ON !!

I have NO PROBLEM AT ALL telling you how I feel about YOU and letting the whole world know it. Keep in mind the OWNER of this site happens to have a wife who is an attorney, and a daughter who is also an attorney and specializes in internet laws.. Just TRY and tell me what I can and can't say to you or do to you on this site BOZO. It's not a power trip at all, it is simply my first amendment right. Trust me when I say we don't fuck around when we say SPEAK YOUR MIND FREELY. Evidently YOUR idea of free speech is way distorted from it's REAL meaning.

This is irrelevant.

You are simply ducking the wager.

IF you are so sure you are correct, simply allow me to write a description of the problem - or even write one of your own, as long as it accurately describes the question - and lets settle this in PUBLIC, on a PUBLIC MESSAGE BOARD FOR ALL TO SEE. Let objective lawyers put me in my place. Not just you passing on what your wife and daughter tell you but IN PUBLIC. Or are you afraid their wrong?

Or are you going to be a coward and (gasp) ban me? Either way you brand yourself, the "king of smackdown", a coward.

AS I have already told you - and I'm sure your wife could tell you - it would cost me an initial start up of about 5-6000 dollars to start a suit - so you can quit quaking in your boots, laughing boy. I have two special needs kids that I can better spend that money on.

So I ask again, laughing boy... care to dance?

A Christian with a Bible is a nuisance to your comfortable level of non-belief. And a Christian with a brain cannot be as easily dismissed as you might be accustomed to. But a Christian with both is a dangerous thing.

I put no stock in religion. By the word "religion" I have seen the lunacy of fanatics of every denomination be called the will of god. I have seen too much "religion" in the eyes of too many murderers. Holiness is in right action, and courage on behalf of those who cannot defend themselves, and goodness.

Man I can't believe he is STILL ranting on about it.. OK... I'll take your wager... put your money where your mouth is and sue me !! Then we can make the decision official. Lawyers only plead THEIR view of the arguement.. I would prefer a verdict from a court.

Don't wanna spend the money to do it ?? Not my problem.... until then.. I'll raise the stakes and keep you in the idiot box PERMANENTLY !!

Until then, this topic is adjourned.

and lets settle this in PUBLIC, on a PUBLIC MESSAGE BOARD FOR ALL TO SEE.
Last I checked, GF is free to the public and one does not need an account to view the board, only to POST... can't get more public then that.

5-6000 dollars

In Will county, the county I live in, it costs $25 to file the paperwork to start a lawsuit. Of course you have to take the initiative to spend a day in the law library and then another in the clerks office to obtain and properly fill out the complaint.

If you don't have the time or the smarts to accomplish this yourself then any attorney will do this for you for a small retainer fee. As little as $100 most of the time. Before I married an attorney I paid $1 to retain the services of an attorney to represent me in a defamation lawsuit against a client.

Law isn't expensive if you're not lazy. I represented myself in my first divorce. Studied the divorce laws, filed the papers and represented myself at the hearings. Cost to me was time spent on research and time in court. My ex on the other hand spend in excess of $10,000. In the end the laws applied. I got half of everything, even though she had it in her mind she should get more.

If you think being put in the idiot box is grounds for a lawsuit take the time to research what needs to be done to file the suit. You'd be wasting the filing fee since the judge would throw out the suit as frivilous as soon as it was heard.
