Lethalfind Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 While I am on the no call list, I still get calls. I assume some of these come from the fact that my resume is posted on a couple sights. I feel no need to be polite to these people. I say whatever comes to mind. Like Fuck off and die, or whatever else strikes my fancy. There are times when I am not so annoyed that I cuss them out in the very beginning that I get the name of the business they are calling from and call the company back and complain about phone harrassment. I have also pointed out to many of these callers that I pay the phone bill for MY use, not theirs, if I had wanted to speak with them, I would have called them myself. Normally I end the phone call with, now go fuck yourself or something equally bitchy. I like to think that a conversation with me will give these ass holes something to go home and complain to their loved ones about. Are they just doing their jobs? Of course but don't choose to do that job and invade peoples homes and privacy if your not prepared to be bitched out. Quote I am a pathetic piece of shit leeching single mom.

Those people only skullfuck the hell out of everyone. They put any charges they want on your bill ,give you no tech service help with things like DSL ,and still have the balls to overcharge you as if you are a sheep in a din of wolves. I remember getting a call at 6am a long time ago when I was dumb enough to have a landline. Its was a telemarketer. So I screamed and told them I was having a stroke and I needed them to call 911. They did'nt call back. Quote .

Mohammed_Rots_In_Hell Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 I had fun with the last guy... he went on and on about some useless information and after 3 or 4 minutes he asked how it sounded and I replied "That sounds nice, but what I really need are monkeys." He was taken back a bit and gained his composure and said "Well what about product X?" I said "Does it come with monkeys?" He said "No." and I said "No monkeys... no sale..." and hung up. 1 Quote The first amendment provides our constitution with its voice. The second amendment provides its teeth.

Lethalfind Posted March 17, 2006 Author Posted March 17, 2006 Years ago I used to get a heavy breather who would call, I would talk dirty back to him, it was great fun, although I was rude talking dirty, like questioning his manhood. I don't waste my time now. I also used to have a whistle that I would blow really loud into the phone. I sometimes get flyers from local real estate agents, I guess they pull the names of people who recently bought houses in the area. I fax them a copy of their flyer and include rude messages about how I will never use their services because I don't appreciate people who send out unrequested bullshit flyers over and over and over again that I have to put in the trash... Quarky1.0 Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 I usually say I'm not the home owner and they won't be back for about two weeks, I'm only house sitting for them Problem is sometimes they come back in two weeks, then I say you just missed them and they're out, won't be back to around 10pm. sao far none of them have come back to 10pm hehe. Lethalfind Posted March 17, 2006 Author Posted March 17, 2006 You know whats funny, I asked one of them, "whats your home phone number, I'll call you and we can talk later" of course they say nothing. Quote I am a pathetic piece of shit leeching single mom.

Of course I don't mean this in a negative way or anything, but... I sort of imagine you to be the kind of person who just complains about anything when it'll do absolutely nothing. The kind of person that others will look at and go "shhh!" in a movie theatre, or when you have the wrong topping on your food, or whatever. Nothing is perfect. Something has to be complained about, or else there is nothing to say. Everything has to be "just so" and it's all about how you want it. I had one person sit behind me at a comedy event, constantly bickering about the comedian's jokes. I just wanted to turn around and smack her. Sorta how I feel about you. These people are just doing their jobs. People need money. And since your obvious bickering and being rude towards them doesn't make them go away or change their practices, you might as well learn to just get over it, and not cause them anymore grief. You really think those people are already so happy that they're on the phone 8 hours a day getting rejection after rejection,a nd probably hate their jobs? Just politely cut them off and say "no thankyou," - don't answer, or just hang up. You can proactively change something, or whine and be rude and have no effect except for annoying others. Try to avoid being the latter. Remember that wherever you go, you will annoy someone, and they will annoy you. But think of how many times others have the courtesy to not be so outright rude. I don't say, "LF, get off this forum , you annoy me! etc." You have the right to be here, because the website exists for the public to use. Well, you also have a telephone line with the purpose of receiving and making calls. You may not like everything/everyone coming in, but you just deal. And having said all this, me complaining about you complaining and being rude will really have no effect. Quote

And having said all this, me complaining about you complaining and being rude will really have no effect. Actually Jenn, I have my phone number on a no call list, a proactive way to stop calls like this. I also took a proactive approach to stopping mail that I don't want. As for feeling sorry for someone who invades my privacy, I don't. They took that job and thats part of the job. It would be like feeling sorry for a nurse who gets blood on her at work, its part of the job. You might notice that others have posted similar feelings about people making calls like this... If you don't like complaining then why are you here on this site? Alot of the posts here are just that. Posting something that bothers you, or concerns you to see what other peoples reactions are to it. Jenn, it might make you feel big to talk down to me but in the end its just humorous...you have not described me at all. I do identify things that need to change in my life and do something proactive to change it. lol, I don't talk in movies or other kinds of events where quiet is required. As for food that I am paying for in a restaurant...if I'm paying for it and its been brought to me wrong, undercooked or whatever, I ask them nicely to fix it. I have worked with the public and do my best to be polite to people because I have an idea of how hard that kind of job can be however not with people who make unsolicited calls to my home, it will never happen. I don't think these people even expect it. Quote I am a pathetic piece of shit leeching single mom.
tiredofwhiners Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Telemarketers and door to door salesmen should had 480 volts put to there genitals. I am not nice to them, and now hear they can call cell phones. When i get that call i will be very rude, when they pay the bill then they can decide who i should use my minutes on. If telemarketing was illegally, there wouldn't be old people loosing there retirement, because some LOSER scam-ed them out of money. Feckless Wench Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 The last caller I got (and I am on a 'no unsolicited calls' list as well) got as far as saying (in a heavily accented indian voice) "My name is Raz and I am from Telemobile" before he got a sharp "Fuck off!" and the phone slammed down. I didn't give him the pleasure of knowing that in answering his damn unwanted call I had tripped over the printer wire, ripped it out of the back of the computer, stubbed my toe on the desk etc etc. Should have sued the damn company for pain and suffering. Assholes! If I WANT to buy from a company, I will contact THEM, if they try contacting me to sell me something then they have lost the sale before they even finish the first sentence. Idiots! Quote Dementia is just a state of mind.
OmegaManiac Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Sometimes when I feel that I have a little bit of time to burn I will try to amuse both the telemarketer and myself by speaking in a heavy southern accent and telling my kids not to touch each other "there" or my favorite "Elvis git offa him!". Sometimes I pretend to be beating my old lady and get her in on the action too. Smack some pots and pans around and make a bunch of noise and after all that and the old lady is cry'n in the distance then I ask the telemarketer if they know anybody that wants to swap heffers. Telemarketers are free entertainment and they should not be wasted by just hanging up or telling them to fuck off. Use your imagination and you might find yourself waiting with baited breath for the phone to ring. Quote

As for the calls I get on my cell phone, thats my fault because my cell phone number is posted on my resume online, I can't change that unless I choose to drop it from my resume and I don't want to do that but I have heard other people say that they get them as well and I have heard of it spoken of in the media that is posible and that if you don't want it too happen then you would have to add your cell phone to the no call list as well. I think if you choose to post it with your resume however that gives them permission to you call you anyway in some cases. I don't think thats right because of the fact that the owner of the cell phone is paying for the actual minutes used on inbound calls. Most people will have to not answer the calls that come from numbers they don't recognize. My parents Quote I am a pathetic piece of shit leeching single mom.

My parents used to have a friend (older man) who had a phone out in the shed next to his house, when he wanted to use it, he went out and used it, that way he was never bothered with unwanted calls... Another thing I have done that confuses people is I have a generic comedic message on my answering machine that I downloaded from limewire, I change it from time to time. People have no idea who they are calling, what number they have called etc., of course the people who know me, know I use that kind of message. skategreen Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 I'm on the do not call list too... but before.... Sometimes I'd be polite and tell them, "sorry, no thank you"...and sometimes, when they were persistant... The phone company telemarketers would call and I'd immediately launch into a gushing and excited tale of how I'd just recently won "FREE LONG DISTANCE FOR LIFE!!!" And I'd really get into it and go on and on how it was such a huge surprise and how glad I was.... I actually had one guy keep on with his pitch, "um, er, but....but wouldn't you like.." .. "No! No!! You don't get it!! I get Free Long Distance for LIFE!!! Your offer doesn't even come close to beating that!!!" Poor bastards would get off the phone in total apathy. Next time...anyone calls me...I'm gonna Steal the monkey one. I showed that response to my daughter and she just roared. Quote The thought manifests as the word. The word manifests as the deed.
