I am speaking of the fact that if someone beats a person because they are gay, that is treated just like if that person is beaten because they are jewish.

Being gay is not a natuaral thing, christianity or no chrisianity. Therefore why should we let our society degrade into allowing gay marriage? calming down It is unconstitutional to ban gay marriage because it goes under those "liberties" defined in the constitution. The supreme court is a hugely corrupt entity anyway, and none of them seem to read the constitution, if what you are saying is true. And, according to the constitution, the states:

 

A. Cannot ban gay marriage.

 

B. Must recognize the gay marriages performed in other states.

Actually, the issue is in the air. In the Lawrence case O'Conner wrote a seperate opinion arguing that gays were covered by the equal protection clause of the 14th Amendment; no one joined in her opinion. If the case of gay marriage came upon the Court today my guess is there would be 4 highly probable votes in favor of expanding the equal protection clause to include gays and 4 probable votes against with Justice Kennedy in a familiar position of casting the deciding vote. Unlike race, or gender, gays may not be entitled to equal protection under the law anymore than drug users or ephebophiles are.

On a personal note and as none homosexual. I personally agree with gay marriages, they pay taxes and are apart of sociaty, why not? Take religion out of the equation and there is no reason why not.

 

If two men or two women want to make there relationship legal then good on them, it should be the same civil marriage the rest of us have, regardless of where you get married, you have to sign a civil contract at the end of the ceremony making the marriage legal, so its the same peice of paper regardless.

If we stop calling it "marriage" and start calling it a civil union, (marriage denotes "under god" civil denotes "in the eyes of the court") more people will understand that this is for equal rights in things like probate law and insurance as well as child rearing. What is the big deal? Most oft eh gay couples I know have been together more than 20 years. Longer than most "married" couples I know. But they always have to worry about what might happen to the other if one dies, and what to do about insurance if one is a stay at home parent.

I'm all for getting rid of both the pledge and the commandments. We have a seperate school board here so they can pray all they like. I don't remember ever saying that I believe in any of the above so be careful with the hypocrite flag.
