builder Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 or is he some other sort of weirdo ? http://www.guardian.co.uk/usguns/Story/0,,1736424,00.html Seen it. The lawn is a fucking shambles anyway. The kid had been taunting the poor old fucker for ages, not just one night's worth. And If I wanted to waste someone, I wouldn't use a fucking 410 gauge shottie, for fuck's sake. The kid was an absolute arsehole, and should have picked on someone worth a battle. He got his just fucking desserts. If you wanna harrass someone long-term, be prepared for the outcome of your ongoing harrassment campaign. Sorry the kid bought the big ticket, but then again, no I'm not. Kids today got no fucking respect for the elderly, and hopefully kids around that area will take some fucking notes and pick some harder targets than feeble old men who want a nice green lawn. For fuck's sake. Quote Persevere, it pisses people off.

builder Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 I'll have to stop reading the liberal press I guess... I didn't realise the kid was really the anti-christ....thanks for the news builder The old fart was pushed to the limit, and the kid was shot within ten feet of the front door. The kid was also in the company of ten plus accomplices, and in my feeble opinion, the old guy was well within his rights to protect himself from a horde of arsehole kids. Did you read the transcript of the old guy's call to emergency services? Fuck these cheeky young shits. I had to deal with a large group of 'em using slingshots on my house last year. I let 'em go until they hit my windows and car. I kicked one right up the balls from behind after donning the commando gear and sneaking up behind the crew. If the cops can't provide protection, (which they couldn't) it's up to us to protect ourselves. I'm young and fit, and keen for a rumble. Poor old fella is feeble and poor eyesight and scared. I'm not surprised he blasted the young fucker. I also won't be surprised if he gets a slap on the wrist and his gun licence revoked. Quote Persevere, it pisses people off.
Lethalfind Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 I am all for having a gun to protect yourself but I don't think a teenager who was an ass hole (aren't a good majority of them ass holes?) deserved being shot unless this kid threatened the old man in some way. Walking across his lawn is not a shootin offence here and that old man should be charged with 1st degree murder...in my opinion. Quote I am a pathetic piece of shit leeching single mom.

Lethalfind Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Have you seen the footage? I have not seen the footage but I don't care what spin a newsperson put on the story, if the little bastard didn't threaten the old man then he had no right to shoot him under our laws. I totally grant that he could have been an ass hole, we have one here in our neigborhood. He in fact goes around to peoples houses and rattles the doors and windows trying to scare people AND with this activity will end up dead one day when he finds an open door or window and goes in someone elses house...however when he is riding his bike down the street after commiting some kind of mischief (one day I saw him in front of my house with DVD's he had stolen, he had a hacksaw taking the anti-theft device off, another time I found him entering our pool area after dark which is against the rules because we have so much vandalism problems there) its against the law to shoot him because he's a little ass wipe. This same little ass hole in my neighborhood can walk across my lawn and heckle me daily if he wants to, that doesn't give me a right to shoot him. My answer to the kid in my neighborhood is that I have called the police on him many times as have others in the area and now he knows the police have his name and have an idea of what he is up to. Lethalfind Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Here is one story about it, they mention a street with no sidewalks... Reported by: Tom McKee, 9News Web produced by: Neil Relyea Photographed by: 9News First posted: 3/19/2006 9:20:30 PM Last Updated: 3/20/2006 2:38:30 PM A Union Township man has been charged with murder after a fatal shooting in Clermont County Sunday afternoon. Police say the shooting victim was 15-year-old Larry Mugrage, a freshman at Glen Este High School. Charles Martin, 66, was taken into police custody at the scene. The shooting took place just after 3 p.m. in the 800 block of Hawthorne Drive in Union Township, a street that doesn't have sidewalks. Witnesses say the teenager was shot because he stepped in Martin's yard as he was walking down the street. Police say Mugrage was shot twice with a shotgun. More about Larry Mugrage 9News was told that Mugrage was a straight-A student, loved to play soccer and was well-liked by his neighbors. His parents, Larry and Anita Mugrage, were out of town in Marietta, Ohio, at a family reunion when the shooting occurred. Lethalfind Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 If this guy was having such a problem why hadn't he called the police, according to this article he hadn't called them since 2003. Police say man kills boy for walking on lawn Created: 3/20/2006 1:40:24 PM Updated:3/20/2006 1:40:35 PM BATAVIA, Ohio -- East of Cincinnati, police say a Clermont County man shot and killed a 15-year-old neighbor for walking across his lawn. Union Township police say 66-year-old Charles Martin told them yesterday he was fed up with neighbors walking in his yard. Police today identified the youth as 15-year-old Larry Mugrage, a student at Glen Este High School. Police say the shooting stunned people in the quiet residential neighborhood and at the high school. They say Martin had no criminal record and last called them in 2003. Martin has a court appearance this afternoon on a charge of murder. Neighbors describe him as quiet but odd and say they knew he'd been feuding with local children. Lethalfind Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 911 Call From Man Who Says He Killed Kid Walking On Lawn Tuesday, March 21, 2006 WBAL Radio and The Associated Press . Charles Martin told police he fatally shot Larry Mugrage, 15, for walking on his lawn, above, in Batavia, Ohio. Here is the 911 call from the homeowner who police say shot and killed a teen walking across his lawn. An Ohio man who neighbors say was devoted to his meticulously kept lawn has been charged with murder in the shooting of a 15-year-old boy who apparently walked across his yard. Irritated but calm, the homeowner called 911 and told the dispatcher that he had finally done something about the neighbor boy - the one, the man said into the phone, who had been harassing him for years. "I just killed a kid," Charles Martin said, according to a recording of the Sunday afternoon call released by police in Union Township, near Batavia, about 20 miles east of Cincinnati. "You just killed a kid?" the surprised 911 operator said. "Yes, ma'am," the caller replied. Martin, 66, is charged with murdering 15-year-old Larry Mugrage, who lived next door to the house where Martin kept a meticulous front lawn with grass that he could sometimes be seen measuring to the inch. Police said crossing that lawn is what got Mugrage killed. Martin, who lived alone, told officers he'd had several disputes with neighbors about walking on his grass, but hadn't called police since 2003, Union Township police Lt. Scott Gaviglia said. "I'm being harassed by him and his parents for five years and today I just blew it up," the caller says on the tape, before identifying himself as "Charles Martin." In the 911 call, Martin, a retired Ford Motor Co. worker with no criminal record, allegedly told the dispatcher that Mugrage had been "making the other kids harass me and my place, tearing things up." "I shot him with a (word deleted) .410 shotgun twice," the caller told the dispatcher. "You shot him with a shotgun? Where is he?" the dispatcher asked. "He's laying in his yard," the caller said. Mugrage, who police said was hit in the chest, was pronounced dead at a hospital. Martin appeared briefly in Batavia Municipal Court on Monday. A judge denied bond and set another hearing for Thursday. Martin was being held Tuesday at the Clermont County jail, where officials declined to give him a message seeking comment and said he did not have an attorney of record. The shooting stunned those in the residential neighborhood and students at Glen Este High School, where Mugrage was a freshman. Grief counselors were at the school Monday. "I think there's a great deal of shock, for two reasons: because of the age of the victim and just how this occurred, killed over some grass," Gaviglia said. Neighbors said Martin was quiet, often sitting out in front of his one-story home with its neat lawn, well-trimmed shrubbery and flag pole with U.S. and Navy flags flying. In his fenced backyard, he had several birdhouses and a shed painted like a small red barn with white trim. Neighbor Joanne Ritchie, 46, said Mugrage was known as "a good kid," and that she always considered Martin to be friendly. "The older gentleman was always riding his bike and tending to his yard," she said. "He would wave at kids and adults. He always had the perfect yard and he worked in it a lot." Sean Fritts, 16, who also lived nearby, agreed that Martin's lawn was his pride and joy. "He was real protective over his yard and mowed it a lot, and sometimes even measured the grass with a yardstick," Fritts said. Still, Fritts said he wasn't aware of any disputes involving Martin. "I never had any problems with him, and I don't know that anyone else did," he said. Quote I am a pathetic piece of shit leeching single mom.
Lethalfind Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Frankly I fail to see ANY justification for this shooting...It sounds like the old fart was a tad paranoid because no one is able to back up his story he was being harrassed for 5 years by this boy and his family nor that the boy had gotten others to harass the old man as well... Wanting someone to NOT walk on your lawn is not justification for shooting someone. The kid was not trying to break in his house, was not appranty armed. Interesting story I have to say. Quote I am a pathetic piece of shit leeching single mom.
angie Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 If he was so concerned about children walking on his lawn, he should have petitioned the city to put in sidewalks. And I fail to see justification for shooting this boy as well. Seems the old man was just a bit neurotic. But I haven't seen the footage. Do you have a link? I saw the footage of the old geezer pointing to the spot where he shot the kid, with the scraggly lawn in the background. I saw the look of defeatism in the old codgers eyes, like he was glad it was over, like he'd had a gutful of the taunts and jibes. I saw the kids that would have been there when their hero got gunned down. It's a sad fucking scenario. The victims in this scenario are the citizens that will lose the right to protect themselves from harrassment in their own homes. That dead fucker does not deserve to be dead. He should have had his arse kicked by his own father many times before it came to a gunshot scenario. Lethal, you say it should have been reported well before this. Well maybe it was reported, and fuckall was done about it, and no report was made. Nothing unusual about that. The kid asked for it, and didn't know what he was asking for. Now his friends know, you don't taunt someone repeatedly without circumstances. If schools meted out punishments for continued rule breaking, then we wouldn't have shit like this happening. Kick their fucking arses in school, and this shit will not fucking happen out of school. Teach them respect. That is what was lacking in this equation. Quote Persevere, it pisses people off.

When they talk to you on the phone, they write a report. Thats the point in calling them, there might not be a reason to arrest someone at that very moment but at least the history of the interaction between people is documented. According to the reports this kid was not a troublemaker and in fact got straight A's in school, thats top grades here in the US, that kind of performance in school rarely goes with a kid being a troublemaker and breaking the rules in school or elsewhere. I don't know how it is in Oz but a teenager taunting someone does not get you shot here in the US. The old man is going to jail and he deserves it in my book. Everthing this old fella did is what you have ranted about doing as being your god-given right as a registered gun-toting American citizen, Lethalfind. And now I find you backing the assailant. What a fucking hypocrite. When you read this story its clear to me the old man was the assailant, maybe they use a different dictionary down under, Assail: to attack violently with blows or words. Who had the weapon?? I have read it was the old man and that the boy had only a video game in his hands... Who was yelling and shouting, again that would have been the old man yelling at the boy. So again, who was the assailant?? Are you really that ignorant or maybe you didn't read my posts...I have every right to shoot someone who enters my home, that is in fact where the tile is that I spoke of, someone entering my home is a threat to my and my daughters safety...I will shoot someone under those circumstances and I will NOT ask for ID to ascertain their age before I shoot them nor will I worry about their mental state...however that is completely different then what this man did. Again, your either ignorant and heartless or your taking this stance to provoke conversation because your a mod, which makes you a worthless poser and not in the end contributing to real exchange of ideas... I would not shoot someone for destroying my lawn, if someone approached my car and it was clear they were going to set it on fire, then I would probably fire a warning shot into the ground. Again, if someone was going to set fire to my car they have a weapon in their hand. You can't go around shooting people who are not armed in any way. You call me a hypocrite, in reality I have a better idea of under what circumstances an American citizen can shoot someone then you do...that much is clear. Would that all people who have firearms at their disposal did, then this would never have happened. Quote I am a pathetic piece of shit leeching single mom.

Lethalfind Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 In Australia, the definition of "my home" starts at my boundary fence. Fucked if I know how you cocks delineate that one. Cheerio. In the US, you can't shoot someone for walking on your property... If they walk into or break into your HOUSE then in most states its open season...Someone breaking into your house gives you the right to assume they are going to harm you...you can shoot them even before you know for sure they have a weapon. In some states (although I am not aware of the particulars) I have heard that if someone breaks into your house and steals something of yours, you can shoot them as they are running from your home and I mean on the lawn outside but again I can't vouch for the details of this because I was not a gun owner when I lived in Texas and didn't investigate that, that is what I have heard. If this old fart lived in here in Florida he could posibly get the death penalty for what he did... In my neighborhood there used to be a problem with people walking across others lawns and it was annoying to some, we put up fences in our backyards, that stopped the problem... We have a teenager here (I mentioned him earlier) that causes problems, I call the police and tell them everything questionable, I see him do. They have talked to his parents about him many times that is of course when they can find the parents. I even told the police he was rattling people's doors and windows and in particular a woman whose husband is a sheriffs deputy in the next county and who had a gun out when he was not home. I told them specifically that this young man was going to be found dead if he kept this up. I have spoken with them so many times I'm sure they are sick of hearing about him, which of course was my point. BUT should anything happen to him it will not be a shock to anyone in the neighborhood. He is a topic of conversation at our neighborhood watch meetings, people know him by name and reputation.
