5 Years, 156 Stun Gun Deaths, Report Says

WASHINGTON -- A report issued Monday said the number of people who have died after being shocked by police stun guns is growing quickly.

 

Amnesty International said its research showed 156 such deaths in the past five years.

 

The group said deaths after stun gun use have risen from three in 2001 to 61 last year, and 14 people have died so far this year.

 

Stun gun-maker Taser International has said there has been no official conclusion linking deaths to stun gun use. However, Taser use has been cited as a cause of death or a contributing factor in almost two dozen cases.

 

The report is the latest study raising concerns that Taser use can be deadly. Many of those who died were high on drugs, mentally ill or otherwise agitated

Yep we’ve come a long way from the batons and such. They’re lucky we use non-lethal means to render them helpless. It doesn’t work all the time but its’ better than a bullet to the head. We are also making great strides to indoctrinate new non-lethal weapons that won’t have as much risk of permanent injury and or death. Goo guns that acapsulate the perpetrator in a sticky foam. It limits your movements. I just wonder how they get all that mess in the back of a squad car. Or the meatal rings shot out of a shotgun.

 

Until then, these fuck heads need to obey the laws and for God’s sake don’t fight or run from the cops. Your pretty much gonna get a few volts up your ass (if your lucky) or a bean bag up side your esophagus.
