There's nothing surprising about what happens during the debating of an important issue such as drug policy. Vociferous Ignorant bullies with their own nefarious short-sighted agenda will invariably Ignore research, evidence and logic.

They will continue to voice their support for more arrests, harder punishments whilst boasting about record drug seizures that accomplish absolutely nothing; this unbroken chain of failure and willful blindness stretches back nine decades to the introduction of Prohibition.

Good thing we still have

Your problem is you put value judgements on those who support current drug laws. People can be wrong without being evil or corrupt. The drug war should end. There are many logical arguments to support that position. You don't have to sink to inferring all those who support the drug war are dishonest.

With due respect Sir, I was referring not to all supporters of this "failed experiment" but to those "Vociferous Ignorant bullies" with their own nefarious short-sighted agenda who will invariably Ignore research, evidence and logic whilst lending their continuing support to "the war on drugs".

Allow all drugs to be sold without prescription. Use current methods for restricting alcohol sales to prevent minors from purchasing drugs.

Yes legalize them and tax the shit out of them. With taxes and the usual spending for police raids, arrests and incarceration we could make a bundle. With that money you could effectively fight the cartels. Also it would be used for rehabilitations and education.

What are your reasons for wanting drugs legalized? what kind of system would you have in place? A USDA type grading system perhaps, standards of production etc.. etc.. your thoughts please?

I'd say hugo, snafu and yourself are pretty much on the right track. Not to much taxes though otherwise we'll just be playing into the hands of the illegal drug cartels.

TAnyways why do you want drugs legalized? and what would be your plan?

Because Prohibition has created the conditions which have lead to a worsening of most of the problems we now see in society; with it's immense costs it has put us all in harms way and serves only to provide a profitable market for criminals and terrorists.

It has been nothing but a plague or an experiment in how to divert intelligent energy away from dealing with the problem of addiction. It has wasted our resources whilst encouraging civil, judicial, and penal procedures associated with police states. Even calling it a drug war is grossly misleading; this is a war on all of us and everything the USA once stood for.

Remove prohibition then regulate purity and measure whilst carding to protect minors.

maybe a simpler solution would be to expand the death penalty and not have such a long appeal process, more of a sentenced to death in the morning and dead by midnight. This policy would help with population control, provide organic fertilizer and free up resources & money for everyone else. There would be more drugs to go around at cheaper prices.

Just like the above post, our failed drug war is a never ending cycle of madness.

American tax money is squandered supposedly squashing drug lords who simply grow ever richer and ever more powerful whilst filling the streets with even more drugs.
