Second....I agree with the protest. Im sure I work with MANY illegal aliens but I would never come out and ask it...And if any single one of them admited it I wouldnt think of them any differently. Americans arent beating down the door for most of these jobs. Then turn around and get pissed off that they are stealing jobs we don't want. All the immigrents I work with and know from social circles are very descent and contributing members of society...(and mind you I havent been to a gay bar in almost 2 months....straight ones yes).....

 

I am technically a first/half generation american. My father moved here from Italy when he was 9 and didnt speak a lick of english, and had to learn from listening because no one would teach him english...so he learned the hard way (and as a result he will correct me left and right when I dont use proper english)...My mother was from here...but that still makes me almost a first generation American...and how ironic that I would rather leave this country for a better life just like his family did when he was young.

 

Weather we like it or not we have no culture to call our own untill recently (and our recent culture is pretty undesirable..) We are a country of immigrants...hell how often are you asked where you are "from" and you can recite without hesitation I'm (irish, jewish, italian, german, french, polish, african, chinese, japanese, russian.....and part so and so)...

 

These new laws are total bullshit and I supported this one day boycott...hell I was ready in an instant to come in and do some cooking or bussing to help them out. Our restaurant got hit and hit hard from this....but not all did call in sick, the same crew worked from morning till night and our restaurant closed almost 4 hours early so they could go home to their families even tho they could have stayed till close.

 

The only ones who are not immigrants to this country are full blooded native americans....we need to remember that and get off our social high horse and remember we are all human beings...not all immigrants are terroists (which is where this crap started)....so lets all calm down and stop looking over our shoulders at someone different from us....most of the world doesnt want this crap and just wants to live....

I love immagrants. I love mexican people. I love all races. But I hate the fact that their comming here illegal. I think it's a slap in the face. And a dump on the true American immagrant mexicans that did it legal. I have nothing against the illeagal personaly. I'm sure they're nice hard working people for the most part. In this day and age we need to secure our boarders. We need to have a concenses of who the hell is in our country. How can you say that no American would want the jobs they do? And that really is the problem. Our system is to slow. We need to have a workers program like the president said. They should however send them back and then come in with legitimate identification and no crimial record.

Yes it is strict...for good reasons. Immigration doesn't want to let in people that are going to become a burden to the welfare system, easy to understand I think.

Last night we went out to a Mexican restaurant that we have been too before. The service and food are always good. However last night our waitor acted like he was doing me a favor to even acknowledge we were there...I was pissed. I had to wonder if this reaction was not because of the current problem.

 

Our waitor of course, whose back was still wet from swimming the river...I doubt I will be back there very quickly.

But welfare should only be used in EXTREME cases. Me and my roomates in college got welfare stamps and were so excited because we could spend more money on beer. We went shopping...and when it came time to use them we were so ashamed we vowed to never use the rest of them and called to say we were "back on our feet" and to not send us anymore!!!. (thank god my name wasnt on it....but i was a part of it and hate myself for it to this day....and that was back in 1994)

 

I guess those that have a conscience can realize who needs them and who doesnt....

Yeah I know but another one I looked at said it should never be used. I was looking at two different web sites at work today. I also looked it up in an old blue jackets manual when we had this discusion before and it wasn't in there. I wanted to give the Bush bashers somehting to say. My bad.

I was looking at a few different web sites today and I could of swore I saw it say it was never to be flown upside down in one of them. I can't find it now of course. I picked that one becuse I wanted some of the Bush bashers to jump up and down.

I also looked it up in a scout manual and an old blue jackets manual when we had this discusion before. I couldn't find any reference in the regulations that said it was permisable. I'm looking in outdated books I guess. My bad.
