I have upgraded to the newest version of IPB. When I started I thought it would be an easy upgrade. When the upgrade scripts started I realized I was a couple versions behind. I knew problems were on the horizon. After upgrade the site seemed to work fine. Then it was time to recache everything to make sure fresh new files were served. This is when all hell broke loose. All styles broke and if you were here at the time you probably got 500 errors all over the place. I have fixed the problems, but, in the process broke all the styles. I have fixed 2 of them. If you really miss one of the styles that are still broke I am sorry. We had too many styles anyway and I had th…

I have changed the look of the site. We now have a more modern style that will be easier for users to access all our features and Microsoft discussions. If you prefer to use the old style you can do so by selecting Microsoft Blue from the style dropdown at the bottom left of the page. If you have any comments on the new style start a thread in the Water Cooler forum and I will address your concerns.

File Name: Google Chrome File Submitter: BSchwarz File Submitted: 08 Aug 2010 File Category: Internet Browsers and Browser Addons Based on WebKit, the same open-source engine that powers Apple Safari, Google's Android mobile platform, and several other Web-browsing tools, but with a different JavaScript engine, Chrome's interface remains a drastic departure from other browsers nearly two years after it first debuted. Instead of the traditional toolbar, Chrome puts its tabs on top. Moreover, the tabs are detachable: "tabs" and "windows" are interchangeable here. Detached tabs can be dragged and dropped into the browser, and tabs can be rearranged at …

File Name: Mozilla Firefox 3.6.8 File Submitter: BSchwarz File Submitted: 08 Aug 2010 File Updated: 08 Aug 2010 File Category: Internet Browsers and Browser Addons Firefox is the gold standard of alternatives to the still-dominant Internet Explorer. Firefox 3.6 is full-featured, lightning fast, and secure. Its killer selection of add-ons remains strong, with built-in support for the next generation of themes, called Personas, plus the latest update makes version 3.6 about 20 percent faster than version 3.5. However, competition is strong and it can no longer be said that Firefox is the fastest browser available. Click here to download this…

I upgraded the site to the latest version of software. There are some new features so make sure you check out your settings page. The only skin updated is the default skin. If you use one of the others the new features will not be available to you. I'll get the other skins installed soon. The gallery is also updated.

Just thought i would give a little update on what I am doing around the site. I am working very hard to go through and delete all spam threads, and then I am going to try and delete individual posts. I know some of you want to totally dump all threads and start a new in this place, but I am weary on making that decision all on my own. I have the power to virtually mass delete all threads, but I would really like other people's opinions on what they want done around here, and more specifically I would love to see Dave and some other Admins and mods back here, so we need to work on trying to get them back. So if you know how to contact them, please do. Also, if you …

After much pain and suffering I have converted to IPB. I still have some things to do, but, I wanted to get the site open since it has been down for so long. I have to install the shoutbox and the new style. I will get that done tomorrow. A quick note. The videos in threads do not work. Someone from staff will have to edit each one and remove the ame tags replacing them with media tags. Now I'm off to bed.

I know this is like culture shock for you. You go to bed and the site is either closed or still on the old software. You wake up and the site is totally different. There are several reason why I switched software and I won't get into it now. What I want to do is make it easier for you to make the adjustment to the way things work. This software has features that will allow us to do things we couldn't do before and it will scale better as we grow. Here are some new things we have or will have as soon as I turn them on. [ ]Facebook, OpenID and Windows Live ID sign in. This will allow new members to join the site without going through the registration process an they …

I have a problem. The software we use for the site vbulletin has changed the license structure and has increased the price to upgrade to the new version. Not to mention this new version is buggier than hell. Upgrades used to cost $60 a year. Now the upgrade will cost $295. I don't have a problem paying the price if they didn't outright lie to the customers. I will not go into it. Do a search for vbulletin 4 and you should hit on a ton of responses. So since this all happened I have been slowly converting my vbulletin sites to another product IP.Board. You can see it at http://computerhelpforums.net one of the sites I converted. Here is the deal. We will have a bette…

I made some changes to the usergroups. All active members that have 3 posts or more where moved into a new group I created. This group is exactly the same as the group all of you belonged to so you should still be able to do everything you were able to do before this group was created. The default usergroup no longer has permission to use signatures or PM's. I have noticed that new members were registering and then creating a signature that showed on the profile page and sending spam PM's and then never came back. This is spam and to combat it I disallowed signatures and the use of the PM system for newly registered users. In order for a user to get full permissions t…

I am going to be upgrading the gallery software. When this is done all member galleries will be imported into it and it will integrate more tightly with the forum. What we have now is essentially 2 galleries. Once the upgrade is done we will have one and it will be used the same way the built in vbulletin albums. I am one that believes it's better to have everything in one place.
