  1. You're exactly right. If you just put an XC or MX link from any of the main suppliers on your quad without revalving the shock, it will be WAY too soft. I forget who I was talking to, either Santo Derisi or Nick about it and they said that unless you were around 120lbs, you could not use the link with the stock shock spring and valving. The leverage ratios are completely different and the shock needs to be set up for it. I run an ARS/FX swingarm and long travel linkage with a custom axis long travel rear set up for XC and it's freakin amazing. It's not cheap but worth every penny in my opinion.
  2. So I didn't see a trader feedback section so I'm posting this here. I bought a cam from Headshothills. He shipped it right away, but it became clear when I got it that there was an issue with it. I contacted him, he responded right away and promptly refunded my money. I have to say that even though the deal didn't work out, he handled it perfectly and I will not hesitate to buy parts from him in the future.
  3. Back at you bud! Very interested.
  4. There's a video on youtube of walker fowler hitting that last year. If he wasn't on a yamaha it would have been awesome.
  5. Thanks guys. The trail is at Whissenhunt ORV park in Dahlanega Georgia. It's about 30 minutes from my house in the North Georgia Mountains. The place is kinda small and really designed more for bikes, but the main trail in the video is pretty kick @ss. The GoPro really doesn't show how rocky and rutted it is and it doesn't show the elevation changes. We're lucky down here. We've got a lot of pretty good trails to ride.
  6. Check it out. This place is pretty rocky and rough but the Motowoz did a great job soaking it up. This main trail is about 5 miles long with about 150 jumps on it. Definitely a fun little trail. Fast and furious.
  7. I'm all for it. I'd post my bikes in it.
  8. My son is 6. I bought it from a guy who said he got rid of it because his kid couldn't master the shifter. lol. Like I said, I put it in 2nd gear and told him to go. If that's too fast, you can put it in 1st. Heck, you can even remove the shifter if you don't want them accidentally shifting, but that was never a problem for my boy. Now he has something he can ride till he's 11 or 12. Oh, and he also gets the benefits of engine braking when he goes down hills unlike his chinese one that would freewheel.
  9. I had one for my son. They're garbage. I went out and bought a used trx90 for $400, put the thing in 2nd gear, told him not to shift it, and let him go. WAY better quad, WAY more stable and WAY more reliable for about the same money, or just a little more. I'm not bashing on you guys that bought one, heck, I bought one too. I just feel strongly about it. It's just night and day difference between the off brands and the main brands.
  10. I ride my quads most of the time, but ride my bike when it gets real dusty. Every time I get on the bike, I realize how much fun it is. Quads rule, but bikes are a blast too!
  11. Yep. Phantom Z's got it right.
  12. I run X-rex's all the way around and they're awesome, and you can get all 4 for around $250 shipped. Excellent tire and I have had no problems with them at all.
  13. bump again
  14. Couple hundred for bearings (swingarm, axle, wheel bearings, a arms bushings etc.). Motor prices vary depending on whether you do it or you have someone do it and whether it's just a top end or a complete rebuild. I've bought and restored 3 250's (and working on another as we speak) and you're going to run into unexpected expenses. Things like swingarm bolts stuck, axle bearings welding themselves to the carrier, caliper rebuilds, shock rebuilds etc. I like to take a look at the quad and figure out a price based on what I see, then I double it to be safe. I'm not trying to scare you away from it, just setting expectations. These things are 25+ years old and most have been run pretty ragged.
