NGC 4565: Galaxy on the Edge Credit & Copyright: Roth Ritter (Dark Atmospheres) Explanation: Is our Galaxy this thin? We believe so. Magnificent spiral galaxy NGC 4565 is likely similar to our own spiral galaxy, but viewed edge-on from far away. Also known as the Needle Galaxy for its narrow profile, bright NGC 4565 is a stop on many telescopic tours of the northern sky as it lies in the faint but well-groomed constellation Coma Berenices. This sharp color image reveals the galaxy's bulging central core dominated by light from a population of older, yellowish stars. The core is dramatically cut by obscuring dust lanes which lace NGC 4565's thin galactic plane. NGC 4565 lies about 30 million light-years distant and spans over 100,000 light-years in diameter. Visible through a small telescope, some sky enthusiasts consider NGC 4565 to be a prominent celestial masterpiece Messier missed.

Angel Aerosmith I'm alone Yeah, I don't know if I can face the night I'm in tears and the cryin' that I do is for you I want your love - Let's break the walls between us Don't make it tough - I'll put away my pride Enough's enough I've suffered and I've seen the light Baby You're my angel Come and save me tonight You're my angel Come and make it all right Don't know what I'm gonna do About this feeling inside Yes it's true - Loneliness took me for a ride Without your love - I'm nothing but a begger Without your love - a dog without a bone What can I do I'm sleeping in this bed alone Come and save me tonight You're the reason I live You're the reason I die You're the reason I give When I break down and cry Don't need no reason why Baby, Baby You're my angel Come and save me tonight you're my angel Come and take me allright Come and save me tonight, Come and save me tonight, Come and save me tonight, Come and save me tonight, Come and save me tonight [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kUn6l7BxEd4]YouTube - Aerosmith - Angel lyrics[/ame]

Sunday Morning Maroon 5 Sunday morning rain is falling Steal some covers share some skin Clouds are shrouding us in moments unforgettable You twist to fit the mold that I am in But things just get so crazy living life gets hard to do And I would gladly hit the road get up and go if I knew That someday it would lead me back to you That someday it would lead me back to you That may be all I need In darkness she is all I see Come and rest your bones with me Driving slow on Sunday morning And I never want to leave Fingers trace your every outline Paint a picture with my hands Back and forth we sway like branches in a storm Change the weather still together when it ends That may be all I need In darkness she is all I see Come and rest your bones with me Driving slow on Sunday morning And I never want to leave But things just get so crazy living life gets hard to do Sunday morning rain is falling and I'm calling out to you Singing someday it'll bring me back to you Find a way to bring myself back home to you And you may not know That may be all I need In darkness she is all I see Come and rest your bones with me Driving slow on Sunday morning [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OnnMZ1xrL7E]YouTube - Maroon 5 - Sunday Morning[/ame]

NGC 4676: When Mice Collide Credit: ACS Science & Engineering Team, Hubble Space Telescope, NASA Explanation: These two mighty galaxies are pulling each other apart. Known as "The Mice" because they have such long tails, each spiral galaxy has likely already passed through the other. They will probably collide again and again until they coalesce. The long tails are created by the relative difference between gravitational pulls on the near and far parts of each galaxy. Because the distances are so large, the cosmic interaction takes place in slow motion -- over hundreds of millions of years. NGC 4676 lies about 300 million light-years away toward the constellation of Bernice's Hair (Coma Berenices) and are likely members of the Coma Cluster of Galaxies. The above picture was taken with the Hubble Space Telescope's Advanced Camera for Surveys which is more sensitive and images a larger field than previous Hubble cameras. The camera is scheduled to be serviced during the coming flight of Space Shuttle.

Wish You Were here Incubus I dig my toes into the sand The ocean looks like a thousand diamonds strewn across a blue blanket I lean against the wind, pretend that I am weightless And in this moment I am happy Happy I wish you were here I wish you were here I wish you were here I wish you were... here I lay my head onto the sand The sky resembles a back-lit canopy with holes punched in it I'm counting UFO's, I signal them with my lighter And in this moment I am happy Happy I wish you were here I wish you were here I wish you were... here Wish you were here The world's a rollercoaster And I am not strapped in Maybe I should hold with care But my hands are busy in the air Sayin I wish you were here I wish you were... I wish you were here I wish you were here I wish you were... here Wish you were here [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7sPOnjwWDY]YouTube - Incubus Wish You Were Here[/ame] psssst.. yah.. you .. mmmmmm.. :x

Dark Markings of the Sky Credit & Copyright: Steve Cannistra (StarryWonders Explanation: Based on wide field photographs, American astronomer Edward Emerson Barnard cataloged the dark markings of the sky in the early 20th century. Barnard's markings are dark nebulae, interstellar clouds of obscuring gas and dust. Their shapes are visible in cosmic silhouette because they lie in the foreground along the line-of-sight to rich star fields and stellar nurseries near the plane of our Galaxy. This deep telescopic image from the early 21st century captures a tantalizing array of Barnard's dusty nebulae toward the constellation Taurus and the Taurus molecular cloud some 400 light-years away. Included in the nearly 1 degree wide field of view is Barnard 7 (the 7th object in the catalog) at the upper right, next to a dusty bluish reflection nebula. Young variable star RY Tauri is emerging from a yellowish cocoon of dust near top center. Typically a light-year or so across, many of Barnard's dark nebulae are themselves likely sites of future star formation.

Dog and Butterfly Heart There I was with the old man Stranded again so off I'd ran A young world crashing around me No possibilities of getting what I need He looked at me and smiled Said no, no, no, no, no child See the dog and butterfly up in the air he like to fly dog and butterfly Below she had to try she roll back down to the warm soft ground laughing She dont know why, she dont know why Dog and butterfly Well I stumbled upon your secret place Safe in the trees you had tears on your face Wrestling with your desires frozen strangers Stealing your fires the message hit my mind Only words that I could find See the dog and butterfly Up in the air he like to fly Dog and butterfly below she had to try She roll back down to the warm soft ground Laughing to the sky, up to the sky Dog and butterfly Were getting older the worlds getting colder For the life of me I dont know the reason why Maybe its livin making us give in Hearts rolling in taken back on the tide Were balanced together ocean upon the sky Another night in this strange town Moonlight holding me light as down Voice of confusion inside of me No begging to go back where I'm free Feels like I'm through Then the old mans words are true See the dog and butterfly Up in the air he like to fly Dog and butterfly, below she had to try She roll back down to the warm soft Ground with a little tear in her eye She had to try, she had to try Dog and butterfly [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tmiN8FUvUHY]YouTube - Heart - Dog & Butterfly[/ame]

Yeah.. we are.. and yeah.. they don't.. oh well.. someone not admitting it doesn't change the reality of it.. Just makes em look like a fukking idiot.

Why not? What's he got to prove? What's wrong with appeasing people? Should he have launched into some demagoguery about The US being the worlds savior, or else? Don't forget these allies.. http://Off Topic Forum.com/on-topic-bs/9930-something-every-american-should-see.html Great.. I see the vids have been removed.. again.. big fukkin' surprise..

Was lookin' at some of this stuff the other day and saw a site that said Obama was and ENFP.. ENFPs direct their energy towards the outer world of actions and spoken words. They seek to develop new potential, explore new possibilities and create new situations that yield the expectation of something better. They often enjoy work that involves experimentation and variety. What makes an ENFP tick? The Dominant function is the perceptive one of iNtuition. Characteristics associated with this function include: Likes looking at information from a global viewpoint, spotting patterns and relationships, that lead to an understanding of the key issues Focuses more on possibilities for the future than the here-and-now Enjoys change, challenge, and variety focusing the (outer world) iNtuition on ideas and possibilities that relate to people inwardly appreciating the contributions of others, though not expressing it that often. internally rejecting any options that clearly conflict with the ENFP's values - though the rejection might not be expressed or seen to others The classic temperament of an ENFP is Apollonian, or Choleric, for whom a basic driving force is the search for meaning or purpose. Good enough for me.. hahaha

Sharpless 308 Credit & Copyright: Don Goldman Explanation: Blown by fast winds from a hot, massive star, this cosmic bubble is huge. Cataloged as Sharpless 308 it lies some 5,200 light-years away in the constellation Canis Major and covers over 2/3 degree on the sky (compared with 1/2 degree for the Full Moon). That corresponds to a diameter of 60 light-years at its estimated distance. The massive star itself, a Wolf-Rayet star, is the bright blue one near the center of the nebula. Wolf-Rayet stars have over 20 times the mass of the Sun and are thought to be in a brief, pre-supernova phase of massive star evolution. Fast winds from this Wolf-Rayet star create the bubble-shaped nebula as they sweep up slower moving material from an earlier phase of evolution. The windblown nebula has an age of about 70,000 years. Relatively faint emission captured in the expansive image is dominated by the glow of ionized oxygen atoms mapped to bluish hues.

NGC 1333 Stardust Credit & Copyright: Stephen Leshin Explanation: NGC 1333 is seen in visible light as a reflection nebula, dominated by bluish hues characteristic of starlight reflected by dust. A mere 1,000 light-years distant toward the heroic constellation Perseus, it lies at the edge of a large, star-forming molecular cloud. This striking close-up view spans about 4 light-years at the estimated distance of NGC 1313. It shows details of the dusty region along with hints of contrasting emission in red jets and glowing gas from recently formed stars. In fact, NGC 1333 contains hundreds of stars less than a million years old, most still hidden from optical telescopes by the pervasive stardust. The chaotic environment may be similar to one in which our own Sun formed over 4.5 billion years ago.

M39: Open Cluster in Cygnus Credit: Heidi Schweiker, WIYN, NOAO, AURA, NSF Explanation: Lying just at the limit of human perception is a picturesque starfield containing one of the larger open clusters on the northern sky. Spanning an angle larger than the Moon, M39's relatively few stars lie only about 800 light years distant toward the constellation of Cygnus. The above picture of M39 is a mosaic of 33 images taken by the WIYN telescope on Kitt Peak in Arizona, USA. The stars in M39 are all about 300 million years old, much younger than the 5,000 million years of our Sun. Open clusters, also called galactic clusters, contain fewer and younger stars than globular clusters. Also unlike globular clusters, open clusters are generally confined to the plane of our Galaxy.

Unusual Dusty Galaxy NGC 7049 NASA - Home Explanation: How was this unusual looking galaxy created? No one is sure, especially since spiral galaxy NGC 7049 looks so strange. NGC 7049's striking appearance is primarily due to an unusually prominent dust ring seen mostly in silhouette. The opaque ring is much darker than the din of millions of bright stars glowing behind it. Besides the dark dust, NGC 7049 appears similar to a smooth elliptical galaxy, although featuring surprisingly few globular star clusters. NGC 7049 is pictured above as imaged recently by the Hubble Space Telescope. The bright star near the top of NGC 7049 is an unrelated foreground star in our own Galaxy. Not visible here is an unusual central polar ring of gas circling out of the plane near the galaxy's center. Since NGC 7049 is the brightest galaxy in its cluster of galaxies, its formation might be fostered by several prominent and recent galaxy collisions. NGC 7049 spans about 150 thousand light years and lies about 100 million light years away toward the constellation of Indus.

The Colliding Spiral Galaxies of Arp 274 Credit: NASA, ESA, M. Livio (STScI) and the Hubble Heritage Team (STScI/AURA) Explanation: Two galaxies are squaring off in Virgo and here are the latest pictures. When two galaxies collide, the stars that compose them usually do not. This is because galaxies are mostly empty space and, however bright, stars only take up only a small fraction of that space. But during the collision, one galaxy can rip the other apart gravitationally, and dust and gas common to both galaxies does collide. If the two galaxies merge, black holes that likely resided in each galaxy center may eventually merge. Because the distances are so large, the whole thing takes place in slow motion -- over hundreds of millions of years. Besides the two large spiral galaxies, a smaller third galaxy is visible on the far left of the above image of Arp 274, also known as NGC 5679. Arp 274 spans about 200,000 light years across and lies about 400 million light years away toward the constellation of Virgo.
