That center section might be a HP killer if it was siliconed into place, you can't see it, but there is about a 1/2 gap between the center piece of the air box and the filter, so the air box lid is actually using the entire section that I had cut out and the center section. Also, if you look to the front latches, there is more lid that you can remove if need be.
I like alanbmx's lid. It still has enough material where you can hog it out more than what is shown.
