Chapter 5

Which brings us back, to Azem hiding behind the bushes. Azem wasn’t quite sure to run to Vero, or run for his life from ATLien.

He heard footsteps coming. He squeezed tighter into a ball.

It wasn’t Vero. It wasn’t ATLien.

It was Ravyn.

She had brought him some dinner. Some soup with some bread that had butter spread over it.

“It’s only me, honey, you can stop hiding in Hybrid Heart’s garden now,” said Ravyn, bending down and placing the tray on the ground, for Azem to reach and eat. He indeed do that. “Poor Azem, expressing feelings and you get beaten up for it, you can come out now, and it’s only Ravyn.”

Azem crawled out to where Ravyn had placed the tray. “I know talk about society being unfair.”

“You did the right thing, and I’m proud of you,” said Ravyn. “Not only am I proud of you following your emotions, but many people are. Even ShinodaBear and even Vero, herself, is proud.”

“She must think I’m a nut case, for doing it,” assumed Azem. “Why would anyone want to date a fool like me?”

“I would,” said Woody, coming out. “But I think Vero would want it even more. You showed her what you truly were. ATLien never gave her that chance to prove himself worthy of her, but you did today. I’m very impressed and so is she.”

“She is?” asked Azem, looking up at Woody.

“Yes I am,” came Vero’s voice. “You showed your true colours. And I like your colours very much.”

Azem stood up to Vero’s height.

And they shared their first kiss as a couple.

Woody and Ravyn smiled and walked away.

“I love you Azem,” said Vero.

“I love you more Vero,” replied Azem.

LP186 wasn’t happy, that they were beating the living **** out of Azem, on his new laid turf. It wasn’t the beating the living **** out of Azem that made him angry, but it was that the turf was new.

“Settle!” yelled LP186, who had the voice of a banshee. Everyone settled. “Now, gentlemen, why can’t we solve this peacefully, like civil people?”
