I think u inspired me to have a Beck-a-thon tommorow lol
I've been having myself something of a Beck a thon recently. I just got The Information and Midnite Vultures. I love them both. A friend of mine who is a big indies rock fan got me into Beck it was a bit of a surprise to me because I usually don't listen to that type of music. But I really love Beck to death. I think he may also be sorta getting me into Animal Collective as well. o_O

Peoples views of Indie music are drastically distant from the truth, the is a lot of stuff out there that is completely off the wall in the Animal Collective/Beck sort of way. My faviroute albums from Beck are perhaps Oddelay, Mellow Gold and Sea Change... Sea Change is a really pretty album and is easily the most focused of his albums, Oddelays and Mellow Gold though they just have this brilliant mix of folk and hip hop that i cant get over.

He didnt cheat and use a drum machine, that was the sound he was going for.... you don't wake up suddenly more electronic. Because I added an s to an album title doesn't make me not a fan, most people don't know that he recorded the majority of the albums, I pointed Siamease Dream as it's pretty much universaly agreed to be his crowning moment with songs such as 'Today' and 'Mayonaise' being very personal to him.
Not to mention it was something like around a year late due to him being a perfectionist and it shows, it's clearly at least techniqually his finest achievment in terms of a musician and producer, 'Soma' for example is intensly complex with up to 30guitar tracks layerd and overdubed over one another to make the melody.

Machina was very average, Part 2 was stronger.... Zeitgeist still remains their weakest release though I feel.

Billys Top 10 albums

1. Siamease Dream

2. Gish

3. Mellon Chollie

4. The Mary Star (ZWAN)

5. Adore

6. Machina 2

7. Machina

8. American Gothic

9. Zeitgeist

10. The Future Embrace (Solo)

Unfourtenetly the last thing Billy put out that got praise was The Mary Star with Zwan but American Gothic was a slight

improvment from Zeitgeist which I feel had maybe 2 songs which weren't poor. The Future Embrace was shockingly bad
I would've put Mellon Collie first and then Siamese Dream and then Gish.

I agree.

Should I put Jack White in here as well? I love his banjo work.

I remember when a friend of mine let me listen to Peacebone by Animal Collective and I absolutely loved it to death. But I went blank when Chores or Winter Wonder Land came on. It'll probably take some getting use to. I've never really listened to much folk. I haven't listened to much from Odelay or Mellow Gold except Devil's Haircut and New Pollution and Loser from each album respectively. If I do get Odelay it'll be for Devil's Haircut because this song and video is just awesome. :X

Cool, yea Peacebone is good fun :) I perfer Fireworks and Reverend Green on that album but its a really good album, you have listed the weak tracks as the one you go blank on though I have grown to like them a lot more.

I got lots of stuff like Animal Collective and Beck if you want a lil playlist of stuff :)

funny...Trent Reznor is leading the poll, but no one's talking about NIN. Anyway, I wasn't born in his 'era' or whatever, and I was disappointed by Ghosts, and I don't have even half the CDs...but I vote NIN anyway.

Billy Corgan, the only thing I have to agree with Stenners on. His work with Zwan and The Smashing Pumpkins was just great. But I voted Trent Reznor because he's ******* hot.
