Yes indeed - he even mentions her sometimes in his books.
I've also got her book "Hospitality Under the Influence" which actually made me cry with laughter in some parts.

The whole family is just brilliant!
I've been looking for something offbeat and irreverent. I'll have to read his work. :)

Just started Fleshmarket Alley (original title Fleshmarket Close) by Ian Rankin. Started the series in September, and only have 2 left after this =( Just finished The Sleeping Doll by Jeffrey Deaver. I'm a mystery kinda gal.

Just started reading "Love in the Time of Cholera" by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. His "One Hundred Years of Solitude" is one of my favorites.

Other recommendations "Cannery Row" and "Tortilla Flat" by Steinbeck, "The Last of the Just" by Andre Schwarz-Bart.

I am currently reading the Maginogion, a collection of prose stories from medieval Welsh manuscripts.

I printed them off of the Wikisource site.

I'm reading a book of slow-cooker recipes to get some ideas for a party this weekend. It's pretty deep and well thought out plot though I'm not sure if I'm completely sold on the views and actions of the protagonist..i.e. Swedish meatball casserole.

I know slow cookers are a great time saver...I just can`t love the look of the anemic meat that comes out of them. I have to brown everything afterwards in the oven. It is a delight for things like chili, and spaghetti sauce, or soup...or for melting candle wax (heehee)....but mostly I don`t like the mush they produce. I`d rather bake, roast or BBQ....
