I work with carbon fiber and composites all day, no thanks. A couple of nicks from rocks and that thing will give you tiny splinters that are a ***** to find and get out, Looks great though. We made a carbon fiber roll cage when I worked at Nissan for a Group C car that was going to race at Le Mans. The drivers were not to hip on that ideaView attachment 237250px-NP35_001.jpg

Carbon Fiber looks nice, but I would pass. I shoot Carbon Arrows and see what happens with the littlest of dings to them. I've seen guys have arrows shatter and go through their hand! Give me my aluminum, please.

carbon fiber is too weak and too expensive. i cant imagine a carbon fiber swingarm
It is expensive but it is not weak. Airbus's new jet is all carbon fiber, Formula 1 cars have been all carbon fiber since the late 80's. It will not bend or dent, but when it goes it is over, catastofic failer. No reason a carbon fiber swing arm would not work. But the cost would not be worth it. To make it strong enough it would weigh as much as an aluminum one. $10,000 easy for a one off. But a steady dose of rocks hitting it would cause damage that would sooner or later cause failure

Carbon fiber roll cage and Chasis I worked on in 1991

I had a carbon fiber driveshaft on the drag car for about two races. They are incredibly strong when used for what they are intended but you have a rock or anything disturb one especially while spinning LOOK OUT!!

X2 most modern airplane parts are made of composites when i went to school for airframe and powerplant we had to make all kinds of aerospace parts out of carbon fiber (and aramid)

Most planes have had components made of composites since the 60's but the new Airbus A350 XWB and the Boeing 787 have the entire airframe made of carbon fiber.
