But word of the confectionary Christ infuriated Catholics, including Egan,
who described it as "a sickening display." Bill Donohue, head of the
watchdog Catholic League, said it was "one of the worst assaults on
Christian sensibilities ever."

The hotel and the gallery were overrun Thursday with angry phone calls and
e-mails about the exhibit. Semler said the calls included death threats over
the work of artist Cosimo Cavallaro, who was described as disappointed by
the decision to cancel the display.

....

Cavallaro is best known for his quirky work with food as art: Past efforts
include repainting a Manhattan hotel room in melted mozzarella, spraying
five tons of pepper jack cheese on a Wyoming home, and festooning a
four-poster bed with 312 pounds of processed ham.

Where was the protest about the ham? Did the media not cover it?

I guess the Jews don't control the media as much as some claim.

Given the number of people in this world who are hungry or starving,
wasting food is a much greater sin than poking fun at religion.

"The wonderful thing about offending the religious is the
self-calibrating nature of the activity: the degree of offence taken is
directly proportional to how much the offended person deserves it."

Catholics fall all over themselves with images
of Jesus in tortillas but a chocholate Jesus is a
no-no?

Not very consistent of them.............

The tortilla Jesus probably has the decorum to cover his shame.

Once again, the mark is missed, and they get extremely worked up over
this, rather than the
critical issues affecting America (not to say this display was right
or anything, but the priorities seem
to be rather off kilter).

I should think that the artist (who's name I can not bring to mind) who
put a crucifix in a bottle of piss would be much worse assault 'on
Christian sensibilities' than a chocolate Jesus.

The world is full of hungry people and this guy wastes food and calls
it art. IF he had made a chocolate Mohammed he would be hiding for
his life right now. It is high time that Christians quit being easy
targets for evil people who call themselves artists.

'Most professional anti-Catholics - the ones who make their living
attacking 'Romanism' - seem to place the blame on Pope Gregory the
Great, who reigned from A.D. 590-604. But that hardly accounts
for the request of Monica, mother of Augustine, who asked her son,
in the fourth century, to remember her soul in his Masses. This
would make no sense if she thought her soul would not benefit from
prayers, as would be the case if she were dead (soul sleep), in hell
or in the full glory of heaven.'

The Catholics who have BILLIONS in gold, jewels and other wealth just
sitting around in churches and vaults? That is, the wealth not being sold
off to pay off the child molestation lawsuits.

You don't think maybe some of that wealth could be used to buy the starving
chocolate, do you?
