In Spanish "negro"
In Italian "nero"
In Portuguese "preto"
In French "noir"
In Latin, the mother of these languages it is "niger".

Actually, If I'm not mistaken, I think it is derived from the Spanish/Portuguese word for Black... (Negro?)I technically don't like using the word too much but I agree with Full and Tori. I see it more of an attitude and a state of mind. But correct me if I am wrong but didn't the word "******" originate from some African word of similiar spelling which means "black"? What I would like to know is why back then did the slavemasters chose the word "black" to describe what they thought was an inferior and ignorant group of people?
The only reason besides being black they called blacks ******s would be the fact that they thought their slaves were below them. Subhuman. Just simply ignorant and stupid people. To be honest with you, if that is the true meaning, then it fits alot of people no matter their racial orientation. I can name quite a few whites I would call ******. I guess in today's society, such a taboo word that was once used for a single group of people isn't considered PC to be applied to any other race. Then again, the usage of the word was never PC in this day and age anyways.
Any insights folks? Help a brotha out.
Not to sure about that one, but I remember hearing it somewhere, and since the spaniards were a major slave transporter, it makes sense...
sidenote: I just got back from the St Patricks Festival in Newport RI Yesterday, and I was kinda suprised to see about 30% of the people there were black! It was really kewl! The only '*******' that were there were 18-25 Year old white kids... But it was really nice to see black people taking part in a celecration of different cultures...
Having been married to a Hispanic for 8 years, I remember how mobbed I got when I went to the Hispanic festival every year... The people there were just so grateful that I was willing to celbrate thier ways and culture for a day that I was surrounded by people... They were so friendly...
I found myself and others doing the same thing to the black people... It was so refreshing to see them just having fun with us that we all wanted them to have the best time possible! It was a ******* hoot!
But, alas, some ******* punk-*** ****** started **** with some fo them, wo we had to band together and bruise em up real good... ******* ******s! People can't even get together and have fun without some punk **** ruining the whole *** damned thing!
These ******* kids were three shades lighter than skim milk too, and Newport RI is one of the Richest parts of the WHOLE COUNTRY ! And these local punks walk down past 10 million dollar homes, and try to act like they are straight out fo Compton! ******...
This one Black guy I was BSing with could only laugh at him... He couldn't even work up to being mad... just laughed... this guy had a huge scar on his face, and looked like he worked 80 hours a day for 30 straight years, and this little cracker is trying to play gangsta! LOL...

I don't see how people can actually desire to live with just their own. White supremesists and White nationalists really get me. While I admire the faith the White nationalists have in Whites, I feel that they must not really have a grasp on the full picture. Whites just don't cut it. If left alone, I fear to imagine what would happen(this isn't not a reflection of potential, but rather of current status). We need to focus on individuals rather than race.
Call me a liberal *** all you want but I don't consider myself to be a liberal and ****** is what love. Despite the nameslinging, there'll still be the problem and a White nation is neither feasable nor attainable.

Maybe I can get government funding for that if I submit it as social study.

Thanks guys. I kinda had an idea of that but what I really meant was why did the slave masters choose that word as an offensive term. How did it come to mean ignorance? Is it because the fact that the slavemasters seen blacks as ignorant and savage and uneducated so the word just got stuck?

The descriptor "redneck" has just as effectively stuck in the south.

I believe that everybody should be proud of their past.
Although I agree with being proud of your heritage I don’t agree with segregation. I think this brings on contentment. What is our heritage? Where did we all come from? Would it be so wrong for the world to become integrated? And not just living together but intermingled as a whole race. I think this would be a defining factor in world peace. Not to say that this alone would do it. Our future generations could then be proud of the “human heritage”.
Of course this is only a pipe dream.

If you were to say sand ****** or wigger people understand that. How do you separate the title of "******" from the ******* or idiot from bastardizing the whole race? You can’t and therefore it is misconstrued.

The term WOG, as in someone from greece or italy, was firsted used in pow camps and the term first meant Western Oriental Gentleman. After the war, not sure which one, but most probably ww2 when australian service men came back the term WOG was used to describe anyone who was not white australian, and seen as though the newest migrants after ww2 were mainly greek or italian, the term was used to describe them.
Over the years WOG, has become less and less offensive and now most greeks and italians take pride being wogs, and even call themselves wogs.
