dude that oil is black, how long was it in there
For 5 days, of turture... I thougth since it was syntechtic would last longer, similar to a car, boy I was wrong..

It protects better than regular oil but the change intervals are the same...

Hey leason learned, plus I was over filling the oil resevoiur and now I know the proper amount I need to add.

Its 09.. and we already figure what went wrong so its shouldn't happen again..
what was your conclusion? just running bad oil? I don't think the oil would cause the crank to fail like that, usually running bad oil tends to have negative effects elsewhere prior to just blowing a crank. Also how many hours did you have on the oil? Besides most of us guys that are **** about changing ever 5-10 hours i see 450's out there running 20-30 hours on the same oil without even thinking about it.

Firts we run the quad on the same brand new oil for 5 days for about a no BS 5-6 hrs total but full throttle.. and I mean 5th gear fly by on the beach to running away from cops ...

And the problem started by putting extra oil in the engine, it created aeration and that created air spots which eventually created hot spot in the crank bering.. and it was a few months of aeration that caused the failure...

Now I know the actual ammount I need to use so it won't happen again

Are you getting an OEM crank, hot rods crank or sending yours out to be rebuilt?, can it be rebuilt?

Something I noticed with the crf450 crank I replaced last week was that it didn't have those brass washers on each side of the connecting rod... I wonder why the trx's has them.
