I agree that communicating an idea is the important part, but...
Using proper grammar goes a long, long way towards communicating your idea effectively.

Sometimes it's no big deal, but sometimes it can make all the difference in the world.

I always laugh when I read someone stating "Your stupid...........".

For me, it's difficult to take someone's comment that is overrun with spelling and grammatical errors seriously, no matter what the message behind the words is.

I'm not talking a goof here or there, because I make them, too. I'm referring to someone who consistently cannot spell or create a sentence worth reading.
