I have to agree with you there, the gum could have only improved that one.

It looks like someone spilled a couple colors on a canvas and stood back and tried to figure out who they could bilk out of high dollars with the piece of ****.

Why am I not surprised with the level of intelligence around here...

First off, Helen Frankenthaler is a renowned and respected artist who's art is actively collected in the WORLD.

F.Y.I. - Art isn't supposed to appeal to everybody equally. Then it wouldn't be art, it would be propaganda.

However, the painting in question was purchased long ago for around $2,000 and because of her notoriety, it's now worth $1.5 million.

Leave it to you to twist the intentional defacing of very expensive artwork by a twerp kid into "the artist sucks". The kid is a vandal. The parents can be proud.

Glad you are such a expert art critic. I hope your parenting skills are somewhat better.

FYI: It has nothing to do with being "Avant-garde" (Oh BTW, you spelled it wrong).

It's very nice modern art and many people love it, myself included. I love all forms of art in all mediums.

Many forms of art were initially unappreciated in their day by many people, but later came to be some of the most respected and sought after artworks in the world.

Umm...do Van Gogh, Cezanne, Monet, Picasso, Georgia O'Keeffe, Andy Warhol, or Keith Haring ring a bell with you?

Probably not. You're about as art ignorant as the next moron.

Just so you know, all of those artists are just a smidgen of those once considered "Avant-garde" and all are master artists who's works command the highest prices in the world.

Yeah, that's right Lethalfind...This is where I tell you...

Go **** yourself you ignorant *****! Don't talk about that which you know nothing about. If you don't like it, fine, YOU don't like it. That does not make it not art and certainly doesn't justify giggling about a child defacing it; in an art museum no doubt!

I hope your daughter doesn't turn out to deface other peoples property and act so nonchalant about it like you.

A child who is not taught the value of all things, quickly teaches themselves how to devalue anything, even human beings.

Regardless of the art, it still annoys me the lack of respect the kid showed. I mean he is 12 years old for crying out loud. That is what repulses me. kids just don't seem to respect other people's property let alone creations

In truth, as a child, I admit not having much respect for Picasso. I thought his work ghastly, weird, and not like the "art" I was taught to appreciate like Michaelangelo.

Now, as a middle aged man, I can appreciate it. In fact, I love it.

Okay I don't know art. I do no what a pice of **** looks like. And that was one. It looked like a bad water painting. It's not worth the canvas it was thrown on.

I guess I'll never get **** like that.

It's a waste of money!

It looked like something "sixes" would draw.. I'll give em $20 bucks for it.

1.5 million my ***. I do not consider spilled paint on a canvas, art.

So what if they paid $2000 for it originally. I say that terribly inflated 1.5 million dollar price was for insurance purposes.

I am definitely not a fan of the guys work (but then I also can't stand Matisse) but this guy IS pretty highly regarded and yes the $$ is accurate. Go figure, it's art LOL I don't pretend to know where the appeal for some of it is

My opinions on works of art are based on things such as the artist's skill, creativity and sincere emotion expressed through whatever medium they're using. I see no such things in that bloch, its part of a relm I can't bring myself to enter. Unimpressed with the dumb kid none the less but idiots come in all ages.

And "FYI" its all about Bosch and Dali

I used to feel the same way about Salvador Dali. In high school I thought his work was ****. (It wasn't all pretty like Monet). Then I had the opportunity a year or two after graduation to actually SEE his paintings in a museum. He was a truly talented man.
