The closet I can come to diet soda is Dr. Pepper but I don't gain weight so diet soda's don't help me. Well maybe being boarder line diabetic might be a reason.

Here are some more of the items on the list of tax increases...

An ?iPod tax? that charges state and local sales tax for ?digitally delivered entertainment services? - in other words, that new Beyonce song you download.

State sales tax at movie theaters, sporting events, taxis, buses, limousines and cable and satellite TV and radio.

Costlier driving with the repeal of the 8-cents-per-gallon sales tax cap on motor and diesel motor fuel, plus and increase in the auto rental tax.

Tuition increases at SUNY and CUNY, $620 and $600 a year respectively.

A 50 cent tax on cigars. The current tax is equal to 37% of the wholesale price, or 34 cents a cigar.

No more sales tax break on clothes and shoes worth $110 or less, except during two weeks a year.

Higher taxes on wine, beer and flavored malt beverages. He would also impose an 18% tax on non-nutritional drinks like soda.

The rich would pay more for luxury items through an additional 5% tax imposed on cars costing more than $60,000, aircraft costing more than $500,000, yachts costing at least $200,000 and jewelry and furs costing in excess of $20,000.

In addition, a host of a fees, including those related to motor vehicle licensing and registration, parks and auto insurance, would go up, as would various state-imposed fines.

A rare set of identical quadruplets will be reunited Friday at a Calgary hospital after spending their first night apart Thursday - two in Canada and two in the United States.

However, when Jepp began experiencing labour symptoms on Friday, the unit at Foothills was over capacity with several unexpected pre-term births.
Lynda Phelan, a spokeswoman with the Calgary Health Region, said no other Canadian NICU had space for Jepp's four babies.

"There wasn't space anywhere in Canada, so we had to turn to our friends in Montana," she said.

Jepp was transferred by air to Montana on Friday - the fifth Alberta woman to be transferred to Great Falls this year because of neonatal shortages in Calgary.

And that makes them U.S. citizens, not Canadians. I suppose they'll have to get passports to go "home" (under the new rules).

Actually that means the entire family is eligable for free federal public housing. It only requires that one member of the household is an American citizen, while millions of other born and raises citizens sit on a waiting list.

I must be really bored. :(
I see no reason not to tax download content. If you go to the music store and buy a tune, you get taxed. If you buy software in a store, you get taxed. If you buy a pair of jeans in a store, you get taxed. He77, if he wanted to help the brick and mortar shops he could tax downloads at a higher rate - call it a "convenience" tax. :eek:

The big problem would be which gov't entities get your tax dollars. After all, if you go out of state and make a purchase your home state doesn't get a cut of the sales tax you pay.

If I order something to be delivered to me from another state I don't have to pay a tax.
