what people don't seem to be getting is that Eli Roth is criticizing all the emphasis on money in today's world. I read an interview where he described how he hates how americans are brought up to believe that money is everything and that if you don't have it you're a nobody. and this isn't just in america, obviously.

he's making the movies to show how sick it can get, if money can buy anything and everything. if supply and demand rule everything, this is what eventually happens. people's sick fantasies are realized in such a way as this.

Well in that aspect the movie is great and should win an Oscar but in every other aspect it sucks. The idea of torturing people is cool and all but Eli doesn't go anywhere with it. He just develops extremely disgusting torture sequences and has a loose generic plot and expects ppl to think it's terrifying. Watching someone have their throat slit while they are upside down nude in a movie really doesn't scare me. What scares me is the build up to that. Or not being able to see it but know its happening, I find that more frightening. It's like seeing a chick in a sexy bikini is ten times more hot then seeing her just plain naked. The bikini lets the eyes imagine some stuff for itself. Same concept. The movie characters never cross the line and what it comes down to, is the movie just relying on the gore to sell tickets.

In summary if you don't mind a mindless torture **** with no strong plot at all then watch it.

to think saw was such an awesome idea at first, i mean its gory and **** but to film a movie in like 1-4 rooms with a budget smaller than most scenes in major movies and still get such a good revenue is awesome but like everything in holywood they need to milk the good movies....

and i watched hosted recently its all good for the first 30 mins.... then i turned it off. and im not planing to watch the second one

That is a little scarry...

I mean if someone asks me if I want to see a movie where people get their eyes burnt out, or if want to see a movie where 2 people have ***...

I would go with the 2nd option.
