Hey guys

Gettin desperate here before school starts.

I'm $5500 in the hole with my Visa and my wife is $700 in on hers.

I figured out I should have about $400 spending dollars a month after all the bills are paid. Yet somehow I always come up short and end up driving myself into the negatives even more.

With my wife I figured she should have about $300 left and she's always dry too.

What do you guys do to save money? Or make extra on the side?

Thanks.

if you aint got cash to cover it, then dont charge it unless its a necessity like one of your appliances quit or vehicles needs something. credit cards are the worst to get backwards on. what i do is never rack em up higher than i can pay off with my income tax the next year. that way i start clean every year.

sell stuff you will never use again. find an old couple that has plenty of money and do small jobs for them. just like weed eating or yard work, painting, whatever. i do some work for an older couple and they pay me very generously.

just try to live within your own means cuz if you dont it will bite you in the long run. i know its nice to have nice stuff and put whatever you want on credit but it never pays off in the end

Yeah what happened to me was I was doing really good with my cash and decided to Powder my frame and do a couple things here and there to my quad. Then when I was working on paying that off my computer died so I got a new one. Then the wifes car broke down and I had to put 500 into it and buy some tools to get the job done. Plus we just moved so there was a couple things I needed to spend money on to get situated. Now it hurts to log into my bank account and the interest alone on my visa is killing me.

i always pay off my credit card every month but i use it like as if it was cash. im a super tight wad just ask my girlfriend lol. eat as cheap as you can, pb&j sandwiches ham and cheese... just dont eat out. get rid of extra bills you wont need example... if you had satelite tv with all the channels cut it down to the basic plan. dont leave lights on and dont waste water, all this adds up. i also dont have my AC cranked up, i keep it around 77. keep driving to a minimum, gas is expensive

Haha mines pretty good as far as that goes. She's gotten a little outta hand with her credit card but nothing like what I've just done. She already has a million shoes and all the makeup and purses so she's good for a while. We literally got her wedding ring off of a cheap website. "I just want something that looks legit, I really don't care." She's a winner.

The trick to paying that debt off is to spend every bit of your spare time doing scab jobs. If you can add to your income in any possible way you will be able to pay that off in no time. 5k is nothing for credit card debt. Also as long as you dont' miss your payments it's not going to harm your credit. I know people that are 40k in debt with student loans. Just try your best to put every possible bit you can towards that credit card. I live alone and I don't run my air unless it's warmer than 80 in the house. You will only continue to go negative if you cannot live within your means.

I tried that and now I'm married.. I'm thinking about picking up some scapolomine and some bath salts to trick people into giving me their money.

I was thinking about that too. I hate living with other people though. Maybe I could rent it out to ***** and ***** myself out to them and add it to the bill each month

This sounds all too familiar to someone I know. My philosophy is if you don't have the cash then, you don't have it to spend. Cards are not cash and the best way to recover is to get rid of it. The recovery formula is easy (some comes in and some goes out) but you have to see it in your head. Kinda seems like there is a lot of misc spending in between. If you can, export your accounts into excel, sum up all the basic categories and input into a pie-chart. You'll probably be surprised by what comes out. It will help you to visually see what your biggest expenses are and where your money is going instead of looking at numbers. Just my .02 for ya.

I've started to do that. I actually downloaded an app that helps alot with the organization of all of that. Forget the name of it.

The hard part now is convincing my wife that we could both change some things to help our situation.
