Is Linkin Park (Hybrid Theory) DeaD?

Nearly 7-8 years ago, a different kind of genre was born which combined metal, rap, electronica together to form Hybrid Theory ... which later became LINKIN PARK ... now after hearing their new album Minutes To Midnight, can we conclude that the Hybrid Theory (Linkin Park) is dead and have transformed into something mainstream music??

I wouldn't say it's dead... because it's part of the timeline in their lines to get them to where they are now with minutes to midnight. If you think about it, It took them ages to find a record label willing to accept them etc... So I think Hybrid Theory wont ever be forgotten considering It's what made them who they are now!

I think there's some truth there. As much as I love MTM, it lacks the ground-breaking new material of HT, which was probably one of the things I liked most about LP.

Thing is, no one besides their fans (us) wants another Hybrid Theory. Music has moved on.

There wont be another Hybrid Theory Linkin Park CD. Period.

They've moved on musically and probably don't intend on looking back.

Yeah they will keep changing their style around bits by bits but make it so they wont loose the feel for how Linkin park became Linkin park today

They've always been mainstream music where you have been? o_O I wouldn't consider Linkin Park ground breaking just extremely popular. Rap Rock has been done before, see "Beastie Boys." Nu Metal was already pop cultures newest "thing" due to the sucess of KoRn, Limp Bitzkit and the like.

Ah, you see, I like so much music, that really I didn't care what I got from Linkin Park, since I love everything really. So it was just Linkin Park's voice, with another person's feel. I always considered HT and Meteora as written by Hybrid Theory (LP's Original Name) and now I feel that this new album Minutes to Midnight IS Linkin Park.

I wouldn't think that Hybrid Theory style would die. It would live on in the fans hearts. Well, some. To the others, the past is dead, LP reborn themselves. But I think Hybrid Theory was an amazing CD. It signified their astounding beginning to their career, and remind us what Linkin Park used to be. I mean if you think about the past, before they became famous, they were just normal guys. They have a lot of issues in their lives and if you read about some of their stories in the past it's really kind of unbelievable. Just because a new album comes out, however epic it might be, does not mean we should forget about what LP used to be.

There is nothing wrong with country music. :p, I happen to like it.

Anyways, It can't be dead, because I image that they will play old songs on their concerts, and I still listen to it.. But, LIke someone else said, I don't image them doing another cd like HT.

Country is pretty cool,so noone make fun of it!

I belive that LP isn't going to make another CD in that same style, but will always incorperate elments of the old rap/rock into their future albums.

It would be pretty weird if they dropped back and did another 1 like HT after MTM thats for sure... :p But they will continue to work on what they have archived over the years to make a even better album after MTM hopefully. :)

Agree with both statements btw all country before 2001 was better than now

After 9/11 it went as commercial as other popular music, but there are still a lot of good artists out there

Well, as Dave said in the "Making of MTM" on the DVD, this apparently is "Linkin Park at their best".

Also, Chester mentioned that the doomsday clock idea represents how much they've changed since the hybrid theory days. So, don't count on them reverting back to a genre that has since been jumped on for six years by a bunch of amateur bands who believe that they have potential... Names are excluded.

JMHO btw. Don't trample me for this.

LP 'is' mainstream, there is NO doubt in that ... but the pillars (rap, rock, metal, electronica) from which HYBRID THEORY (hybrid of different styles) was constructed, they are no more !! .. that's what i meant to say ... cuz they r now like normal ROCK (POP?) Bands which we have today !!
