I uploaded an exclusive on behalf of Def Jam College 11/17/2006, Blood Diamonds set to be on Nas' "Hip-Hop is Dead" album. http://www.sendspace.com/file/qnllcj

Yeah, I know they've made up now but I'm sick and tired of people saying how Jay-Z reigns supreme because of his "deeper lyrics" and his affiliation with Linkin Park. Like it or not, it's vice versa when it comes down to real lyricism and hip-hop in general.

Jay-Z speaks of money, hoes, club bangers, and his life as a drug dealer. Nas speaks of condemned foes, loss of friends, and the struggle in life many experience. Jay-Z is to Notorious BIG whereas Nas is to Tupac Shakur.

Nas beat Jay-Z in the Hot97 battle for a reason, folks. And when Nas puts emotion in his lyrics, (i.e. One Mic, song posted above: Blood Diamonds) Jay-Z really has nothing on him.

Bring it.

THANK ***!

I am so glad you posted this Wakka....personally I don't think Jay has much tallent. Nas is a great Emcee.. Jay Z is one of the reasons Hip-Hop is starting suck (although he isn't near as bad as some people like 50 Cent, G Unit, and Mike Jones).

Personally I like Common better than both. "Be" is a great album (sry that has nothing to do with Nas or Jay Z....

I never really liked Common's flow, but a good emcee nonetheless. When it comes to Common, I like Talib Kweli better.

I know a local artist who did a track (suppose to do 3) with Talib Kweli and called the thing off because he said Talib Kweli was half assing it...but he still is pretty good...

Well I think Nas also talks about guns and hoes...

Both of them are great MCs...there's nothing better than hearing them on one track together...

But Jay is clearly the best rapper alive....

his flow is timeless

Listen to his new CD and you'll see that he has grown....

he's not rapping about the gangster **** anymore....

His new CD Kingdom Come? That album was a major flop, I deleted it because it was basically two singles and FILLER.

And by the way, most of the rhymes that Jay-Z publishes are from the top of his head. Just improvisation. Yeah, that takes skill and comes in handy especially in a freestyle, (which he lost in anyway), but real lyrics that cut deep require an organization of thoughts and philosophies. If you want to hear Jay-Z and Nas on the same track, they recently did a song together called "Black Republican."

If the rapper has to declare himself the "BEST RAPPER ALIVE!!!" (Outro of Dirt Off Your Shoulder) , then he clearly ISN'T the best rapper alive.

I can't help you if you are not feeling his stuff...

I also listen to other people like Nas and Talib Kweli...

But Jay has a certain style and flow that I just can't ignore...

Kingdom Come SUCKED. I've never been a big fan of Jay, just only when he was with LP. I've never really checked out NAS either.

For rap, I tend to stick to Lupe Fiasco...

Maybe you think it sucked because you don't let it grow on you...

when I first listened to it I was also thinking wtf....but then I really started to like it after listening to it for 5 times or something...Jay-Z CDs always got to grow on you.... :p

Jay Z's black album was very strong, but as a whole Nas has the better lyrics and flow as well as voice in general.

I don't see how you could say he is best rapper alive. Although I do respect your opion, but like DJ Wakka said its mostly off the top of his head. I will admit he freestyles good, but I think he would be great if he wrote more down. It just dosen't seem like he thinks out his lyrics well enough. Jay-Z is one of the artists, in my opion, that has a few good songs on each album, but never has a great album. Personally I would take Nas over Jay-Z.

^^ I see your point...but Jay always was like that....

he always creates the songs in his head...without writing it down...

you can't change that...

Yeah it is one thing that does make him unique. (I think since I don't know of anyone else who does that)
