I love Shepard's Pie, the cabbage sounds interesting, I will give that a try. I do beef, lamb mixed in it. Only hand mashed for me as well, instant mashed suck.

On of my favorite meals is actually very simple, chicken and rice. I like to add celery and I use a little Tarragon and Marjoram in it to give it a different flavor. Pretty much averyone who trys it comments on how good it is.....of course you have to have cornbread baked in an iron skillet to go with it ;)

Something very different I cook is I take pork ribs and cut them up to fit in my slowcooker. I then pour equal amounts of pineapple juce and grapefruit juce over them till covered. A little fresh crushed garlic, cover and cook.

I don't do cabbage. I don't like vegetables all pretty much. For my greens I just eat salad. I also have been eating those veggie burgers. There not to bad really.

Veggie burgers taste better with bacon.

I use ground beef and pork. I don't like my lamb ground, I only like it as a chop or roast. Using the cabbage comes from my grandma. That's the way she would do it. I find it's easiest to use shredded cabbage slaw instead of ******* around and layering all that cabbage. And the word INSTANT isn't used in my house unless your talking about pudding..

.
This may sound like sacrilege to most of the regular posters, but I don't eat pork, or pork products.

Oh, here's the recipe for fancy meatloaf. I dunno....I'm guessing at the measurements but it should work ok:

1/2 lb ground sirloin

1/2 lb ground hamburger

1 egg

1 cup diced white bread (fresh)

1 cup milk

1 box frozen spinach (thaw it out)

1 jar Prego spaghetti sauce (I used meat flavor)

1/4 cup Italian seasoned bread crumbs

1 package sliced Provolone cheese

1/4 tsp ground black pepper

1/2 tsp sea salt

.......

First I cut up the bread and put that in a bowl with the milk to let it soak in. Then I mix together the sirloin, hamburger, egg, 1/2 the jar of Prego, 1/4 tsp ground black pepper, 1/2 tsp sea salt, most of the Italian bread crumbs (leave a little bit to sprinkle on top while it's baking) and the milk drenched bread.

Once you have that all mixed, pull out some plastic wrap and spread the mixture out on it. I bake mine in a bread pan, so I just make sure it's the same width as my pan. I'll usually spread a thin amount of Prego sauce on it, then the spinach, and then the sliced Provolone. Roll that sucker up like a jelly roll and plop it in the bread pan. I spray it with Pam, first.

Then I add some more Prego on top, and more Provolone cheese slices. I bake it at 350, and it seems to me it takes about an hour. When it's ready, I take it out, add a sprinkling of the Italian bread crumbs on top, crank the oven to broil and let the cheese get nice and golden brown.

It's a hearty meal for sure, but I've never had any complaints when I've served it.

It's good on a sandwich the next day, too.

And don't be scared of the spinach, snaffy!!!!!! It'll put hair on your chest. ;)

Sounds good, I might substitute some ground venison for the hamburger though, I grind it with some beef fat when I package it.

I once mixed newborn puppy meat with newborn kitten meat and got so incredibly sick to my stomach!

That is because the mixture is toxic, next time mix in a little baby seal and you will be fine ;)
