SO WHAT? i'm still thinkin LP is nü metal and rock is dead.
Linkin Park is a rock band and nu metal is what is dead. Like A7XLP said, ina nutshell, nu metal sucks. All nu metal is about is screaming whiny trying to act like heavy metal dudes and sucking poorly. Linkin Park does not take the nu metal approach in my opinion, and are simply branded as such for Chester's screaming. This band is rap/rock.

Btw: For anyone who does say Linkin Park is nu metal, I'll just let you know that nu metal is in the cold clutches of death right now. The very founders of the movement, Korn, are currently sliding down the crapper at a pretty good clip. They'll be lucky if they get another record deal.

rock isnt dead, Rock isnt specific enough. Rock can be anything. I believe LP slips into the new genre of rock, metal, rap collided into one. Rock and ROLL is Elvis Presley etc, dont get it mixed up.

Well, I'm not really sure what they are, because they mix a lot of different types of music together, but I would say that they are rap/rock. I really don't think that they are metal because metal is like really heavy screaming, and it usually doesn't have like rap and stuff in it. But I don't really know, that's just what I think they are...

This is what they say on Frat Party...... so uhh. doesn't really say anything.

Chester: "The original name Hybrid Theory was an idea to define the kind of music that we were doing.."

Joe: "I didn't really see it as a rock band, I saw it as like a new type of fusion..."

Brad: "From the beginning our goal was to bring together different genre's of music like Electronica, hiphop, alternative rock, and make it one sound thats indistinguishable"
