even though people don't want to repeat the bar thing,i think it is most appropriate because most people won't even want something as large as a signature.
Unless you want to make them a sig && a bar thing and give them the option of what they want to use?

I dont believe having 2 images, both within the size limits will create an issue.

I'd say try exploring other designs. Bars are great for awards, but that's what we've always had..

Umm, i dunno how far everyone has gotten with animation..
ALSO:
I just posted a nomination thread in the staff section of the forums, so hopefully we will have the polls for nominations up and running soon, so the elites can get to work on the final nominations.
and, how do you guys want to handle the counting of the votes when it is time to do that? Do you want the staff to do it, like its been done in the past? I can't think of another way to do it.. I dunno someone else let me in on any ideas that they have about this issue.

Sounds like a plan.
Just give us a look over of the nomination lists?
So then we have been included...the nomination list the mods make can be final but we can suggest those who we think may deserve that award more && give a reason to why we believe so.
If alot of people suggest, have a little vote?
I know this is time consuming, but then we can say it is fair.
The mods counting the votes would be the only way it could be fair.

Do you guys wanna see some of the nominations I have made so far? I have only done like 6 catagories, and I am the only one who has posted any so far.. But if you can think of people who deserve to be in that catagory say so.. Then the other mods will see. I can tell you, it is hard doing nominations, so some ideas are always helpful.. I had a hard time finding some people and some topics.. Its not as easy as it seems. But remember when you see mine(if you do infact want to see them) that it is just 5 out of many who deserve it, so don't get all wild!

I don't want to edit my post from about because this is a total diffrent idea, so sorry for the double post:
I have an idea for the "LPF Choice" nomination I guess we could call it. I got the idea from this thread from last years LPF Awards > http://www.linkinparkforums.com/showthread.php?t=12840&highlight=LPF+Awards.
But the idea behind that was, you nominated yourself, you put in your own sigs and avys.. How about this year, the people nominate their favorite sigs and avys from around the forums (not made by them(them being the person who is doing the nomination)) thus nominating people from around the forums?
For example: I love so and so's sig! It is the best sig I have ever seen, (but you have to make sure who ever you nominate has made that sig or you nominate the person who made the sig) so I nominate them for the best sig award.
Just an idea, lemme know what you think.. Or if you want to change something by all means, change it to make it work.
Edit: I would like some one who is capable of making graphics (sigs and what not) to make or start working on something like this:

I am willing to give it a shot, although I welcome other members to attempt these banners as well.
EDIT: Should the banner say "The Mod Squad Presents"? Because its not just the Mod's organising the awards...
