Support or oppose the minimum wage is the question for debate. Support your position.

If you take a job paying the minimum wage your boss is saying I might pay you less if it wasn

The reason I brought it up is the Democrats will be talking about how the extreme judges want to end the minimum wage over the nuclear debate. The minimum wage seems like the stupidest law I ever hear of and would welcome it being done away with. Every time the MW is increased by a quarter the price for everything goes up $0.35.

I can remember my dad bitching about how it was highway robbery to pay ten cents for a soda out of a vending machine. It seems that before the MW increase it only cost seven cents for a cold drink. Really only four cents because the store would buy the empty bottle back for three cents. I can remember him saying if this **** keeps going like this it

Well I will gain from it that is for sure...but really only to help pay my taxes really. I earn tips and my paychecks basically are only there for paying my taxes (after all who could live on a 35$ average paycheck for 2 weeks). But it sure beats working in cubicle hell sitting there and being miserable. I much rather like working on my feet working half the hours and making the same pay (sometimes more, sometimes a little less). Its more physically, mentally, and socially taxing...but worth it in all aspects.

Unfortunately some states have 2 minimum wages. A normal one, and a 2nd one for tipped employees. Usually half of that. In nebraska it was 2.13 an hour 5 years ago. It hardly paid for my taxes and i usually owed money at the end of the year. Here in Minnesota im earning a real minimum wage and now its going up a dollar. so it will be 6 something.

Im not sure on this question, but logically it seems right. Wouldnt all other higher wages in turn go up because of this? (not instantly...but a year or so later?)

The minimum wage laws are absolutely stupid!
1)First of all the minimum wage artificially inflates prices.
2)Secondly, it creates a huge incentive for illegal immigration.
3)Thirdly it just violates the rights of workers and employers to negotiate their own payment structure.
4)And fourthly, it unfairly discriminates on unskilled laborers who are simply not worth 5$ an hour.

1-Artificial Inflation. When a hamburger shop pays 1$ per hour to its 10 employees is forced to pay 2$ per hour, the price of the hamburgers just double. It is economics 101. Granted the minimum wage never doubles, but the effects are the same on a smaller percentage. The folks working at the minimum wage level never really see any advantage to their higher salaries because whatever gain in income will be consumed by the costs of living (because the things they buy have also increased to offset the labor costs of all products). It is a zero sum gain at best, and at worst, a losing proposition for those making minimum wage because of the higher overall inflation the bulk of the workforce will be pushed into higher tax brackets which of course leads to less spending in the consumable markets.

2-Illegal Immigration incentives. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that a migrant farm worker that makes 3$ per day in Mexico might be enticed to sneak across the border for the chance to make 5$ per hour! Elliminating the minimum wage would drive the migrant farm workers pay back down to where nature intended and not so many people would be so inclined to risk life and limb crossing our borders illegally.

3-As a laissez faire capitalist and a staunch believer in the 9th ammendment to the US constitution. It just seems such a violation of the rights of employees and employers to conduct their own legitimate business without interference from the government.

4-I have consulted with many small business owners who have stated on several occasions that they would hire more elderly, handicapped, and other wise unemployable people if they could afford to! Many buisnesses would have employees on staff that would clean up all day, or file papers, sharpen pencils or whatever they would like to do for 1 or 2 bucks per hour, but at 5$ per hour, it just isn't worth it.

REPEAL THE MINIMUM WAGE LAWS!!!!

I actually agree there with you, it looks good on paper, but one thing that holds it back is simple. People (Americans) are ****ing LAZY. The constant fight as it were is always to find that "better" job. I did 6 years in a packing house myself, and YES my dad really was a Mexican migrant worker when he was younger. Started after the 3rd grade to support his family. He did what he needed to. He used to always threaten us when we were kids that he was gonna move back down to Texas and make us work the fields with him. Yeah, **** THAT !! Thing about it was, he wasn't kidding. His major point was that he wanted us to all grow up with a work ethic. Work hard, be happy. Once its in you its there. America tends to preach education, which is good, but they should also teach work ethics.

I supervised a group of kids about 5 years back. Every last ****ing one of them were lazy panzys with all kinds of sand in there vaginas about showing up and doing there jobs. One was always sick, one always went to the bathroom, one always had kid troubles, one was always there but hardly worked.. WTF ?? Most of them came to work in "BLING" and had cars bought by mom and dad. Then have the nerve to BITCH because they took home a small check.. or BITCH because they didn't get a raise.. Like they even broke a ****ing sweat...

And thats the way it is in America MRIH, my fellow hispanic. Lazy ****ing people.

For some reason employees equate what their personal bills are to how much they should be paid instead of what work they actually do.
You forgot "or how well they do it." When I worked in the fast food industry (many eons ago) the minimum wage was 4.00$ per hour and everyone got paid the same. Some weren't worth 1.00 an hour and others were were worth 9 or 10, but because of this stupid SOCIALISTIC LAW every one got paid the same, and of course what do you think happened to any incentives to work harder or better? They were absolutely dissolved into nothing! Just like the economic life of the soviets (pre-perestroica days) minimum wage has the same effect on the fast food business. Hint: Did you ever wonder why fast food burgers are so expensive, cruddy and small?

Every one of us has heard a fellow employee bragging about how he/she gets over on the company.
This is another problem. In the "Right to Work" states (like the great state of Texas) an employer can simply fire an idiot like this, but the socialistic states that aren't have huge problems getting rid of these assholes. It's an absolute travesty to our great capitalism!

Unions should be outlawed,
I disagree. While I utterly hate unions and what they do, I do believe highly in Freedom, even the freedom to form an economic block, or other organization for peaceful purposes.

and the Minimum Wage should be abolished.
Absolutely! The minimum wage is a violation of an Employee/Employers economic relationship. They should be free to negotiate whatever compensation they both deem appropriate.

I think unions suck also, especially in the government! Then the liberals in congress guarantee the pensions and benefit programs. Every time the airline goes bankrupt the rest of the taxpayers have to pick up their pensions along with paying for SS for themselves or the government has to pay the wage increase. Ford and GM debt is at junk status and could go **** up any day leaving the pensions to the remaining taxpayers to pay. As they made $25 and hour in the 1960
