There are many people from all over the world in here and not every one speaks english well. I've often got problems with grammar. This topic is to help with english.

So I'll start it :) I just don't know how to ask smb to take photos. Which one is correct?

May I take pictures?

Can I take pictures?

Could I take pictures?

Shall I take pictures?

Or maybe any or none of them is correct?

You should always use "may" to ask a question..

On another note.. It is proven that English is the hardest language to learn..

Oh, thanks

No, I don't think that english is the hardest language to learn, I think chinese, finnish, polish or even german is more difficult than english...

Nah.. actually it is a proven fact that english is the hardest language to learn..because there are so many acceptions to rules and what not.. It would be harder for a Chinese person to learn English then it would for me to learn Chinese.. I always thought that English was the easiest language.. but its not..

If your asking someone to take a picture of you, then it would be, "Would you mind taking a picture of me?"

If your asking to take a picture of someone else, then it's, "May I please take a picture of you?"

Hope I helped.

I've always thought English was the easiest language. It's a national language isn't it, the majority of the world are speaking it ^.^

French for example, there's like... masculine words, feminine words, plural words. It's all confusing and about 4 ways of saying "the" & "I" etc. You have to use different versions for different contexts depending on what you want to say =( Thank *** I dropped French.

Chinese looks a million times harder than English. Have you seen those words? ****** **** >.< Each word is a different meaning, you actually have to learn to write the words and learn the meaning behind it. There's no way to actually "read" it like in english because they don't have an alphabet or something? Sorry, in my opinion it really does look hard lol.

Urgh and polish lol! It looks scary. I don't think I could attempt any other words after "Chesk" (sp?) ('Hello' in polish). Sorry for my long input. I find languages facinating, I just can't learn them very well.

Like I said.. I always though English was the easiest.. but we had a big discussion about it in Social Studies the other day.. and everyone was like Nah English is the easiest.. and our teacher was like No , its really not.. That shocked me.. I was like What.. English has to be the easiest, have you see the Chinese stuff? and he laughed and was like I know its weird.. but english is the hardest language to learn..

English is easy. Easy plurals, most have just 's', nouns don't have sexes, adjectives only have one form and many more.

If you want a hard language, try mine. Verbs have different words for past simple for we had and you had, we have 4 forms of every noun, adjective, pronoun and all that. Plus difficult pronounciation.

One question, is this going to be all out English help thread? I could use help sometimes. I have a suggestion. Since English is the most important part of this forum, why not pin this thread? I bet half of the members would like help with their English regularly.

For your picture question, I would say "Can I get a picture with you?" But if you want to be super proper, use the word "may" cause that is proper English. Though many people use casual English in the US. (like what I said before)

I actually believe that it was proven that Chinese was the hardest. English was somewhere up there though.

No, I don't recall Chinese being on the top. It was near the top, but Basque is considered the hardest language in the world. It is unlike every language there is.

I don't even know what Basque is. lol All I know is that Chinese is at least one of the hardest. Or maybe it was the hardest language that is commonly used or something.

Basque is a language of people living near Barcelona in Spain and near the French border.

Oh. I see. My parents went there, but it was fine for them cause they went with some other people. One of who which new Spanish and the other French. It's a sort of mix isn't it?
