Shout Box?

Well, I was thinking instead of having a chatroom that is hardly used and is frankly kind of a waste of space why dont you trade it in for a Shout box. One like on fortminorworld.com/forum, that way people will be more prone to use it becuase it is a very easy to access way of communication. Make it so that you have to been signed in to use it however. So that we don't get random jerkoff's sitting there say LPF SUCKS. I think it'd be a way bigger hit than the Chat Room, and I don't know people seem to be attracted to Shoutboxes for some reason.

As greatly as I've advocated the revival of the chatroom with the lack of interest in it (and bless her, it's usually only Twi in there at any given time) I'd have to say maybe the shoutbox idea would be the way to go. I don't know about the technical side of things but I recall people were having issues earlier getting their usernames through in the chatroom, unacceptable characters or something, so hopefully this shoutbox will be able to allow these same people through? It's a hope anyway.

I don't see how it's a lose-lose situation. People barely use the chatroom now - may as well utilise the space from a business perspective. It's a new toy for us members to communicate - and that's cool - and if it gives people a reason to join (register to post) then all the better - it shouldn't get clogged excessively by spammers, and the powers that be here who have been pushing for more members might get them. What's not to like about that?

It looks better, that way we can see when people have wrote something and stuff.. unlike the chat room when nobody is really arsed about going in there.

See, no one goes in the chatroom becuase first off you have to click into things to get in. You never know if anyone is in there, and more often then not there is a some sort of problem with it.

With a shoutbox, the thing is right there. As soon as you log on you are faced with the options and can see what someone just recently said and reply, Or you cant opt not and just veiw otehr forums. It's alot less technical and alot easier to use.
