is there anything Admin can do to stop these spam/advertising posts, like filtering for example?

dont think so...

some sort of Authentication process when you register, to make sure your not a automated bot. That would get rid of some of the spam.

Surely there are plenty of other ways, but I dont know much about vB forums...

Sure but who says they are bots, you could just register being a human. but indeed, it may stop SOME of the ads/spam

think i reported 2 spam threads in the last 3 days. i just ignore and report, its the best thng to do

Double post for staff reasons

I just got done talking to Qwest & he said that he is taking steps to taking care of the two recent major spam raids.

He has also installed an E-Mail confirmation system that will assist greatly in helping us staff cut down on the amount of spam posts & threads.
