Suggestions for Fan Site

Let's get this thread started... I've received a number of very good suggestions via PM. Since we're going to try to go in the direction of what the community wants, let's post 'em all here to discuss.

I'll throw in the first suggestion:

Another idea: Going off on the photo gallery idea, maybe we could have a video gallery. People who like vids in thier sigs could pull videos or download them off of the site and use them in thier sigs.

Of course, that could be just one of many possible uses

I like the idea of a fan art section With avatars, buddy icons, wallpapers that sorta thing.

If the gallery was to move over there, it'll be kool if the pictures were sorted out a bit more. Such as the screencaps section, maybe make a few more folders inside it like "Screen caps from the video Numb" "Screen caps from whatever performance" and sort them by year or something I only say that because I get confused with the older pictures where they look kinda different and I'de rather know which ones were more up to date. I dunno, I think it's the haircut changes.

Gotta have the song lyrics too And their funny quotes that they say.

I like it when sites are updated regularly with news so that'll be awesome

And make it fun for the visitor, rather than making it just a site for information about the band, let visitors participate or something. Let them submit their experiances of meeting the band, pictures, polls, them singing lp songs lol whatever. Wait, most of that happens in the forums lol. Hmm...

I bet the site's gonna be awesome!

On the idea of news, there's already a few lp sites out there with up to date lp coverage, but no forums, or forums with little to no members. LPtimes.com for example. We make a special user group for all their writers, they add a "Forums" link on their site.

Yeah' date=' news would be a must. Maybe someone could take some time to type up some quickie bios on the band members, and some info on all there albums. Just a band info section. What would also be cool is to give the LPF Chat its on little place, since this will make it stand out and thus have more people using it.[/quote']

I've done Bios for everyone but mike and Joe. Lack of time.

Good ideas. We have so far:

2) Move photo section to fan site. Allow them to be sorted and searched for.

4) Member Fan Art area: sigs, avatars, desktops, drawings, etc

don't forget about remixes, there's an entire community dedicated to it, I remember it was just me 2 or 3 months ago, and now we are more than 20 remixers or so.

I disagree with the mp3s of their songs. We should not put the music they have worked so hard to create, up for grabs.

We should have an entrance exam or something of that sorts, to be able to become a member of this site. With a website to go along with this, there will be more people who come in, and may not be the type of members we want here. Either that, or some sort of filter of sorts to control the amount of members and the type of people who come in. We dont want more spammers do we?

I dont know if this is possible, but a Linkin Park TV section. It will have a list of concerts and videos of Linkin Park and everyday, it will run down the list forvever. And when you want to upload something else, it will play those for a while and go over and over again. This way, ppl can watch all sorts of Linkin Park concerts.

Then, we should add a link to the Tsunami relief. Maybe some for donations to the site as well.

We could have a network of staff who write articles of Linkin Park and they could do their work.

We could also have a guestbook for Linkin Park. People would put in their names and email and whatever, we could filter out anything offensive or stupid, and then email it to Linkin Park every month or so. It would be interesting, if a bit repetitive and stupid.

We could host compititions and that sort which would include remixes, sigs, pics, wallpapers, music videos, ect....

As you can see, there are many ideas for the new site, and I hope to be a big part of it if you would allow it. I want to assist you any way I can.

That's a good idea! Maybe even some fan made videos or something. It may take up a lot of space though.

My concerns about adding a site to here is that it could destract new members to coming to the forum. I don't know what's more important though. That's my only concern.

I think you should also have a bio of all the Admits, mods, and a short description of the Elite members on the site. So new people can get to know people better and faster.

Will the site sorta look like the forums? Are you going to change the forums to look like the new site? Or are you going to have them look different?

Well those are my questions and thoughts. :thumbsup: I think this will turn out great!

The only audio LPF could legally host would be LP media that isn't copyrighted...and I believe most of the media everybody is looking for is copyrighted, if not by LP, then by somebody else. I know the Xero tape is copyright Mike Shinoda. I dunno who holds the HT EP, though. Same for collaborations.

 

Remixes, as FS1999 said, and as I've already discussed with Phage, would probably be OK, as we're not making any profit off of it (at least I'm not), and we still attribute the original songs to LP.

That'd be cool, all good sites have that. I think we could take it a step further. Make it into one of those news caster type things. I can edit videos, people could send me their videos and i could edit them to a like 1 min newscaster that would be on the home page, a new one every week. It wouldn't all have to be about Linkin Park either, we could put LPF news on there too. For example: new mods, LPF awards (we could actually do a long segment on that), and getting a new admit. We could have people write the news, I think it would be cool. If it doesn't turn out that'd be ok and we could just delete it. I dont know, just a thought....

This could be achieved simply by adding a thread to the Elite Section.

A thread only to post LP download where only Elite members could view it.
