older mettalica

When observing a Chuck Norris roundhouse kick in slow motion, one finds that Chuck Norris actually rapes his victim in the ***, smokes a cigarette with Dennis Leary, and then roundhouse kicks them in the face.

What does older metallica have anything to do with "The best American band CURRENTLY is......."?!?!?

Popmatters is calling The National's "Boxer" early candidate for album of the year:

Gotta love how pitchfork admits and owns up to "missing the boat" on 2005's Alligator multiple times. Seems like they are extremely regretting the fact they didn't "break them open" to the world. And it's almost like they still don't get 'em though. Classified under Best New Music:

Yeah, I remembered I gave you that Battles album awhile back. A couple of years when I saw them I was wondering when they were going to finally put out a regular LP. Glad you like it. I kind of cooled off on it lately.

Battles = instant pleasure with inevitable loss of desire .

The National = constant grower (with every release). Painstaking details musically and lyrically slowly unfold and hit ya with every listen. They are like a fine wine that gets better with time.

Looks like as of now, Boxer has taken the lead on Metacritic with an 89. I hope it sticks. I don't think its fair to count the overrated and minimalist "The Field". It's been out for awhile with only 10 reviews. Anyhow, this is what Alligator should've gotten if certain review sites didn't blow their load off of one half-hazard listen. Kinda like what Pitchfork did. Now Pitchfork and company are trying to make up for their wrongdoings, by praising Alligator in their Boxer reviews. Funny ****.

Another thing to think about is the "Mistaken For Strangers" single b-sides "Black Slate" and "Santa Clara" are even better than most of the tracks on Boxer IMO. They are up there with my favourites at least. Don't know why they weren't included on the album. As of right now, I've been racking up listens on Boxer and Cherry Tree EP like nothing else as of late.

Hey Stenners, how come no mention of Boxer when I was hyping it earlier in the thread before all the reviews poured into metacritc? :-/

CAUSE i didnt get it till like 2 days ago (as in 'Get' it) I didnt like it too much i never was into it so I put it into my ituneees playlist n left it on shuffle n simply refused to skip the national songs till it 'got' it. I got it =) now i listend to the album 3 times in 1 day!

Siiiiiiiiiide note on pitchfork........ reading their reviews is like hearing an indie geek **** off :p they are farrrr to up their *** i find.

As of right now,

Cherry Tree EP=Alligator>Boxer>>>Sad Songs For Dirty Lovers>>>>>>>>>>>>(Self-titled)

There is hardly anything for me lately that can rival the 3 song stretch of Dolled Up In Straps, Cherry Tree, and About Today. And it's hard not to go back and ROCK OUT to Alligator when Boxer brings you down. Same thing with the rocking stuff on Sad Songs.

Like I said before, the best thing on the new album is the DRUMS. Weird how certain things like that come to the forefront. Atmosphere and arrangements come in 2nd.
