The victims are mostly civilians, killed or wounded in the throat, the neck, the chest, the head, even though they were in their houses. They shoot at people running in fear, who are trying to save themselves. We have lost any notion of time; we have no idea how long we have been caught in this war. We feel lost. There are planes that bomb us, drones ready to fire their missiles over our heads. They control the entire zone. With the droning of the drones, we always have the feeling of having a bee buzzing in our ears. It is really disturbing. There is no one to defend us. We don't have an army. We have only our parents to defend us, knowing that they are going to their deaths and that they cannot defend us. This new aggression is horrible especially for the children who are very numerous here. They are forced to stay couped up inside, they are terrorized, and they cry when there are bombings. At any moment we can learn there are people killed, there are people wounded who are bathed in their own blood, that people don't know how to stop the hemorrhaging, and that the ambulances can't give them any aid without being hampered.

My youngest daughter will not even go to the toilet on her own, she is so paralysed with fear.

The Israeli special forces positioned on the roofs of houses are firing on anything that moves.

Conditions are very bad. We haven't had electricity or water since the night of Tuesday into Wednesday.

I have a son who is suffering from an allergy that makes breathing difficult. His medicine has run out and I cannot leave my home to get more.

There is a full curfew. Today [saturday] they let women out for two hours to buy food for the first time; but after half an hour, the Israeli soldiers fired into the air and told them to return home immediately.

We have had Israeli military incursions in Beit Hanoun before, but this is the worst.

Terror

Some members of my extended family have been injured. All are civilians. They were injured either inside their homes or in the courtyard.

I know the parents of some of the young people who were killed because they are the same age as me; in their fifties.

There is an atmosphere of terror; fear and anxiety for the future. We don't know what will happen to us.

We no longer feel safe, even inside our own homes.

Until now, the Israeli forces have not allowed the Red Cross to visit the places asking for urgent help.

My youngest daughter is 11. She will not even go to the toilet on her own, she is so paralysed with fear.

Even when they are at home, children feel constant fear because of the heavy firing and the noise of the aircraft.

I think this offensive may last for 10 days.

But it will not achieve its aims; the resistance movement remained active through more than 35 years of occupation because of the absence of a political solution to the Palestinian question.

Arab Christians Speak Out in Support of Israel's Operation in Lebanon

World Lebanese Cultural Union

August 2, 2006

President George W. Bush

The White House

1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

Washington, D.C.

Dear Mr. President:
I am writing to commend your constant support for fighting the evil of terror and specifically, your unshakable resolve to support Israel’s fight against Hezbollah. These terrorist groups are enemies of all who want to be free in the Middle East--indeed the world. They threaten a free Lebanon, Middle East as well as America.

The U.S. National Board and chapters of WLCU is the official voice of American Lebanese, representing almost two million people in America. The WLCU represents 14 million people around the world. We pray that our people in Lebanon can enjoy the democratic rights and life that we have as an American Lebanese. Indeed, we thank *** for that every morning and every night.

Mr. President, please be strong in your commitment for the world to implement UN resolutions #1559 & #1680 that require that Lebanon be rid of Hezbollah and Iranian influence. Do not let Lebanon fall into the hands of the Axis of Evil. Do not let our American Lebanese pride and spirit down.

Lebanon is finally capturing world attention. The Lebanese people have been suffering for more than 30 years from foreign interference that has shredded the country and divided Lebanon into groups with loyalty to Syria, Iran or other outside Arab interests. The Lebanese people are paying a dear price for the reign of terror.

You have our full support for your Middle East policies. We are proud of America, of you and your administration. Not only must Hezbollah and similar groups be disarmed, but their educational systems that teach hatred, terror and racism must be also destroyed.

To make the people of the Middle East free, let us close all Hezbollah operations and all terror organizations. Then there will be no more wars, destruction, blood, dying women and children in Lebanon. And only then will Lebanon, Israel and American values be secure in the Middle East.

Together let us support a free Lebanese government and peace in that region once and for all.
Very truly yours,
Joseph A. HAKIM

WLCU, US National Chapters

President

Maybe Hezbollah should stop killing innocent Israelis. You must recall September 1970 when your fellow Muslims in Jordan got sick of the Palestinian BS. Israel should do the same. Hope noone loses any hands.

Palestine faulted on abuse of women

Rights group says violence such as rape, beatings goes unpunished

By Karin Laub

ASSOCIATED PRESS

RAMALLAH, West Bank - A new report presents an alarming picture of the abuse of women in the Palestinian territories, with police, courts and government agencies failing to treat violence such as rape and beatings as a crime.
Human Rights Watch cited practices such as rape victims being forced to marry assailants and light sentences for men who kill female relatives suspected of adultery.

In a report to be released today, the rights group said families, tribal leaders and authorities, backed by tradition and discriminatory laws, often sacrifice victims' interests for "family honor."

And the problem is getting worse with growing poverty and lawlessness in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, the New York-based group said.

The report comes about a year after a Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics survey of more than 4,000 households found 23 percent of women said they experienced domestic violence, but only 1 percent had filed a complaint.

Two-thirds said they were subjected to psychological abuse at home.

Human Rights Watch urged the Palestinian president, parliament and government ministries to make protection of women a top priority.

It said more can be done despite the conflict with Israel and the cash crisis in the Palestinian Authority brought on by the rise to power of the Islamic militant group Hamas.

"The main failing of the system is the failure to treat violence against women as a crime and to address it accordingly," researcher Lucy Mair said. "We want to say: You can take some positive steps, and it's imperative to provide protection to more women."

Mair said Human Rights Watch studied the Palestinian territories -- rather than investigating abuses in other traditional societies -- because some Palestinian officials had signaled they were ready for change.

"This made us optimistic we have something to work with," she said.

Commenting on the report, Adnan Amr, a legal adviser to President Mahmoud Abbas, agreed Palestinian authorities are "weak" in enforcing the law, but blamed "the security and political situation we have been through over the past two years."

"All Palestinians, not only women, are paying a heavy price for the chaos," Amr said, referring to struggles between rival Palestinian groups.

Human Rights Watch's report -- based on dozens of interviews with victims, social workers, lawyers and police chiefs in the West Bank and Gaza -- said abusers in the Palestinian territories are granted virtual immunity.

Rapists who marry their victims are not prosecuted, it said, and such deals often are arranged by families, tribal leaders and police.

Even those assigned to protect the victims often push for such an outcome. The director of the West Bank's only shelter for teenage girls is quoted as saying she arranged five such marriages in her six-year tenure.

Palestinian law is lenient with men who kill female relatives because of adultery. Yet it bars rape and incest victims from having abortions. Rape within marriage is not considered a crime, the report said.

Police and hospital doctors are not trained to handle abuse cases and often further humiliate victims, the report said.

In a hospital in the West Bank city of Nablus, a doctor announced to a crowded waiting room that his unmarried 16-year-old patient was pregnant. The girl's mother later cited that incident as the main reason for her decision to kill her daughter, according to a case documented in the report.

A premium is placed on female virginity, with rapists facing a lesser punishment if the victim is not a virgin, the report said. Virginity tests are imposed on sexual abuse victims against their will.

Women's fates increasingly are determined by tribal leaders or Palestinian Authority-appointed governors, rather than the overloaded courts. The informal justice system often is arbitrary and biased against victims, Human Rights Watch said.

Victims often are afraid to come forward because of social stigma, the perceived futility of complaining and fear of inviting retribution by relatives, the report said.

Hanan Ashrawi, an independent legislator, expressed doubt Human Rights Watch's call for a repeal of laws that discriminate against women will go anywhere because the Palestinian parliament is dominated by the Islamic fundamentalists of Hamas.

"We don't have a majority for reforms on these issues," she said.
Hard to understand how a liberal can support Palestine's sexist and xenophobic state.

Different Worlds, Different Values

Lebanese Arab speaks out for Israel at Duke Counter-Terrorism Rally

Bridget Gabriel

"Arab Zionist"

Below are the remarks of Brigitte Gabriel, a Lebanese woman, delivered at the Duke University Counterterrorism Speak-out, October 14, 2004.

I'm proud and honored to stand here today as a Lebanese speaking for Israel, the only democracy in the Middle East. As someone who was raised in an Arabic country, I want to give you a glimpse into the heart of the Arabic world.

I was raised in Lebanon where I was taught that the Jews are evil, Israel is the devil, and the only time we will have peace in the Middle East is when we kill all the Jews and drive them into the sea.

When the Muslims and Palestinians declared jihad on the Christians in 1975, they started massacring the Christians city after city. I ended up living in a bomb shelter underground from age 10 to 17, without electricity, eating grass to live, and crawling under sniper bullets to a spring to get water.

It was Israel who came to help the Christians in Lebanon. My mother was wounded by a Muslim shell and was taken into an Israeli hospital for treatment. When we entered the emergency room, I was shocked at what I saw. There were hundreds of people wounded, Muslims, Palestinians, Lebanese Christians, and Israeli soldiers lying on the floor. The doctors treated everyone according to their injury. They treated my mother before they treated the Israeli soldier lying next to her. They didn't see religion, they didn't see political affiliation; they saw people in need and they helped.

For the first time in my life, I experienced a human quality that I know my culture would not have shown to their enemy. I experienced the values of the Israelis, who were able to love their enemy in their most trying moments. I spent 22 days at that hospital; those days changed my life and the way I believe information, the way I listen to the radio or to television. I realized that I was sold a fabricated lie by my government about the Jews and Israel, which was so far from reality. I knew for a fact that if I were a Jew standing in an Arab hospital, I would be lynched and thrown to the ground as shouts of joy of “Allahu Akbar” (“*** is great”) echoed through the hospital and the surrounding streets.

I became friends with the families of the wounded Israeli soldiers, one in particular, Rina, whose only child was wounded in his eyes. One day, I was visiting with her and the Israeli army band came to play national songs to lift the spirits of the wounded soldiers. As they surrounded his bed playing a song about Jerusalem, Rina and I started crying. I felt out of place and started walking out of the room, and this mother held my hand and pulled me back in without even looking at me. She held me, crying, and said, "It is not your fault." We just stood there, crying, holding each other's hands.

What a contrast between her—a mother looking at her deformed, 19-year-old only child and still able to love me, the enemy—and a Muslim mother who sends her son to blow himself up to smithereens just to kill a few Jews or Christians.

The difference between the Arabic world and Israel is a difference in values and character. It's barbarism versus civilization. It's democracy versus dictatorship. It's goodness versus evil.

Once upon a time, there was a special place in the lowest depths of **** for anyone who would intentionally murder a child. Now, the intentional murder of Israeli children is legitimized as Palestinian "armed struggle." However, once such behavior is legitimized against Israel, it is legitimized everywhere in the world, constrained by nothing more than the subjective belief of people who would wrap themselves in dynamite and nails for the purpose of killing children in the name of ***.

Because the Palestinians have been encouraged to believe that murdering innocent Israeli civilians is a legitimate tactic for advancing their cause, the whole world now suffers from a plague of terrorism, from Nairobi to New York, from Moscow to Madrid, from Bali to Beslan.

They blame suicide bombings on the "desperation of occupation." Let me tell you the truth. The first major terror bombing committed by Arabs against the Jewish state occurred 10 weeks before Israel even became independent. On Sunday morning, February 22, 1948, in anticipation of Israel 's independence, a triple truck bomb was detonated by Arab terrorists on Ben Yehuda Street in what was then the Jewish section of Jerusalem. Fifty-four people were killed and hundreds were wounded.

Thus, it is obvious that Arab terrorism is caused not by "desperation" or "occupation", but by the VERY THOUGHT of a Jewish state.

So many times in history in the last 100 years, citizens have stood by and done nothing, allowing evil to prevail. As America stood up against and defeated communism, now it is time to stand up against the terror of religious bigotry and intolerance. It's time for everyone to stand up and support and defend the State of Israel, which is the front line of the war against terrorism.

Thank you.

Palestinian Muslims are a bunch of sorry bastards.
