US House Holds Bush Confidants In Contempt

C

Clay

Guest
The House voted Thursday to hold two of President Bush's confidants in
contempt for failing to cooperate with an inquiry into whether a purge
of federal prosecutors was politically motivated.

Angry Republicans boycotted the vote and staged a walkout.

The vote was 223-32 Thursday to hold presidential chief of staff Josh
Bolten and former White House counsel Harriet Miers in contempt. The
citations charge Miers with failing to testify and accuse her and
Bolten of refusing Congress' demands for documents related to the
2006-2007 firings.

<snip>

The White House said the Justice Department would not ask the U.S.
attorney to pursue the House contempt charges.

So much for our DO-NOTHING Congress.

Too ****ing funny.

It is not necessary for the Justice Department to be involved. Under the inherent contemp process, the House Sergeant-at-Arms can
arrest and jail both of them. Such action is long overdue.

This has been the most productive Congress since the Bush junta took over in 2001.

Seeing Bolten and Miers in cells will be even funnier.

Wrong. A simple majority makes it happen.

Nonsense. The fight has already been picked and the House has just won the first round.

You could not pay me enough to testify in front of people who are just
waiting for you to tell them something that is not the truth.

Bush's expression of contempt for the Constitution in this regard is
impeachable.

Today.

There is no "Democratic Congress." Democrats, Independents, and Republicans comprise Congress. The current Congress has so far
accomplished much more than the previous three Congresses combined. Reassertion of Congressional oversight responsibility would
have been enough, but many other things have been accomplished as well.

Actually, Democrats will be in charge all three branches of government in 2009.

Won't happen. It has never happened in the past and there is no reason to believe that it will happen in the future. ****ing
things up is the exclusive purview of Republicans.
