I used to work in retail (spit). I have had a couple bad times with customers but few where I was affraid the person was going to attack me. That is what makes it SO much worse.

I had a guy one time, start screaming holy murder when we asked him for his address when we were checking him out, he was using a credit card to pay for his merchandise. He was told that we don't have to send him a catalog if he doesn't want one and that we don't share our mailing list with anyone AND that the computer system keeps a running total and if your total purchases got over a certain amount he would recieve a special invitation to a closed event where there would be larger discounts then normal.

Of course I doubt he heard much of that because the minute the Christmas temp asked for his address he started screaming, his face turned red, I was affraid he was going to die of a heart attack in the store, then started to wish he would so he would shut up. I could see this man's wife, on the other side of the store, looking somewhat affraid of him and trying to stay out of the fray. As it turns out this ass hole was the postmaster of Arlington, Texas, the town where the store was. This of course all happened at Christmas when the store had alot of people in it. NOTHING I said (as a member of management) made a difference and again I don't think he heard me. He ultimately said he didn't want the item he was trying to purchase and literally ripped his card out of my hand and stalked out of the store...BEFORE I was able to reverse the charge...I had no record of his name or card number, I had to call the people who maintained the credit card machine we used and get them to reverse the charges that way.

THE WHOLE time I was dealing with this ass hole I was affraid he was going to come around the counter, he was THAT upset. Other people in the store stopped and stared and drew back in shock at his behavior. He was waving his arms and screaming, it wouldn't have taken much for him to take a swing at me...all because we asked for his address.

When he had walked away from the counter and was headed for the door, I said to him, rather loudly "have a Merry Christmas". LOL, that made him so MAD he called and told the manager of the region that I had been sarcastic too him...what the **** ever.

I don't miss retail one little ****in bit. People are savages, ungrateful with their hands out for something free (in Phreaks thread) and always willing to give someone who is trying to help them holy hell. **** UM.

I had a Boog call me a homo when I told him to get out of the porn room, I told him to get the **** out of my store and he flipped out and shoved me against the drinks chiller, so I gut punched him and he took a step back and vomited on the carpet, now there is a stain and I had to clean up monkey vomit...
