According to you, you should have told them, "that's your job" and went on a rant about poor parenting.. I pity the parents who are having you teach their kids about sex.. So, you're saying you would have a non - legal, non - government sanctioned marriage with a personal commitment to each other, and God? If so, "we" ain't so different, you and I. But I don't believe that's the case.. the people in your church would not understand, and you'd buckle.. close?

You are condemning the school for providing contraception, and as a youth group leader at a church, you are pushing your views of complete abstainence as the only "choice". I guess I wasn't aware you had kids.. How old are "he/she/they"? Obviously eddo, plenty of kids for one reason or another have parents, however pathetic, that teach them that it's ok to have sex at a young age. Maybe they merely gander around at the messages society gives them and it's not always the parents fault that their kids have sex.. So, you suggest withholding protection and information from them to punish them?? Real f in' smart... By the way, sex and marriage are not chained together. A committment is between 2 people. Not 2 people and a priest or judge. Besides, anyone who would willingly add another umbrella of laws over their head is nuts, IMO. Also, marriage is a man made concept.. not divine. I fail to see the need to ask a judge or priest if I can be with another person, and then ask permission to not be with them if we so choose. I have a brain. Not to mention the financial raping by the system in both cases.. Hahahahaha

Most kids and their parents don't discuss these issues eddo, and if you and your church ever mention sex related issues to the young people in your congregation/youth group, I must once again point out your hypocrisy to you.. Now, does your church involve themselves in any way in these issues, eddo? If not, pardon me, if so, shut the hell up.

School shootings have been rising too.. I graduated in 1987.. never saw school and shooting in the same headline back then, but girls did get pregnant at a steady clip.. apples to apples.. dust to dust And it's not just the kids that get shot that are effected... every kid in America is effected and scarred by it.. Much worse than a case of a kid getting crabs.. Not national news..

I don't know, I don't own guns and I don't believe in the might makes right theory.. Perhaps if I was taller than 5'6" and a bit more bulked up I'd join the club.. I currently subscribe to the whatever is ok for me to do to another human being, is ok for every other human being to do to me theory.. As well as, whatever is ok for my country to do to one human being in another country, is ok for every other country to do to me. So in conclusion, if it was ok to drop napalm on one Vietnamese, every country has the ok to drop napalm on me... So, I say, not ok.

Kids wanna "earn" their way through life like Paris Hilton... can you blame them? The point is, we got a lot bigger problems than kids having sex and a school providing the protection you're talking about.. Yet, the protection you don't want them to provide. What gives? And apples are not oranges.. every school encounter can result in a bullet to the head from a classmate... What schools are immune? I'm sure every parent will want to send their kids there..

Violence is not the solution to your problems, unless it involves invading foreign countries to secure our way of life and obtain precious resources and wealth. It is ok for us to have nuclear weapons, but not ok for our enemies of the moment and we will kill them to prove it. Violence solves nothing and although we have more guns than people and spend most of our time and resources devising new and improved ways to kill people, we are a peace loving country. Your life is worth more than a dog, but less than a car. Don't have sex and ignore the constant bombardment of sex in advertising, television, movies, and music. Buy those products, watch those shows, go to those movies, and listen to that music to keep our economy strong. There is nothing more important in life than money. The amount of "respect" and adoration you will receive is directly proprotional to the size of your bank account regardless of your actions. Buy and consume at any cost as what you are is defined by what you have that other people can see and envy. Sex sells! Don't have sex, or you'll get diseases, have kids and go to hell. Do as I say, not as I do. What other words of wisdom do we have for our kids?

I don't think it's really wise to put standards on children that adults are not willing to live up to themselves. Nothing pissed me off worse as a kid than a stinkin' hypocrite. Matter of fact, nothing still pisses me off worse.. Take a look around our society, kids learn by example, not talk. I don't really see kids having sex as a failure. I see kids having sex as doing what they're "told", by what they see. Perhaps our society and way of life is a failure.. perhaps "role models" for young girls like Paris Hilton shouldn't be given so much air time.. Perhaps we should put life before money and stop using sex to sell everything from cars to clothes.. Kids will adapt and grow to fit the society we present to them.. Seems to me they're right on track and will fit in wonderfully as adults..Kids mirror adults, period. Don't like what you see? Don't try to change the kids...

Good points TJ.. But this is really about NOT withholding contraceptives or information from kids and giving them abstainence as the only option because kids will have sex regardless. Just because the school provides the service, does that mean the school doesn't teach abstainence as some here imply? Seems to me that's the only "choice" many people want kids to have.. Not real smart.

Teach, how old are you? You came from the old school.. Inflation for 100% of things? How about those houses? Food? Energy, Tuition? How would you like to be 20 right now and just starting your life? You're totally correct though.. not long ago people didn't have those cell phone bills, ISP service, digital cable.. on and on.. houses were more modest.. people like to pretend they're rich and borrow crap to prove it. Doesn't mean our guv has to print more money and screw people who live responsibly to accomodate them with a financial house of cards. Another thing, my grandpa and grandma lived much, much better than I do.. and paid cash for everything.. My grandpa had some good advice.. if you don't have the money, you can't afford it. Don't get me wrong.. I made the choices I did for a reason. The only thing I care to buy in this life for the most part is my freedom. Time.. the most precious resource of them all.. I don't see anyone offering credit for that.. And the stock market?? When a company like K mart can declare bankruptcy, wipe out the value of their stock, then turn around and reissue it to new investors, seems a bit tainted to me.. I'm not buddies with E.F. Hutton and Martha Stewert.. I'd be the idiot owning the common stock..

What's there to teach about abstinence? You can't get pregnant or sexually transmitted diseases if you don't have sex kids. The end. Problem is, natural hormones and genitals don't abide to societies rules. I became sexually active at 16 and do not think I was too young. My girlfriend was 16 and we'd been together a year.. perfectly natural. Too young for a kid? Sure, according to societies rules.. Disease? Two virgins? Whatever.. How about we remove the genitals at birth and use drugs to supress hormones to keep unwary young people away from the evil that is sex... I can catch disease from eating food.. where's the outcry for abstinence and a free condom for my steak? I don't want mad cow disease.. If you don't wanna have sex, don't. Sure, young people are immature and make mistakes.. that's how we learn. I'm glad the school helps however they can since most parents are either indifferent or rigid on the issue instead of actually talking to their kids like a human being and teaching them how to be smart about making choices and how to protect themselves. Besides, I'm sure kids understand if they don't have sex, they can't get pregnant and catch sexually transmitted disease. You're not talking about sex education there.. you're talking about "promoting" 100% total abstinence through fear of the negative consequences.. Here's some more basic economics. A falling dollar makes imports cost more, and since we import damn near everything and those products cost more, it's bad. The dollar falls, oil increases accordingly. Everyone and their brother use oil for damn near everything we make and do, so that's bad. Matter of fact, when I get a job, I think I'll ask to be paid in barrels of crude. Yes, it's good to pay debt back with declining, inflationary currency. Now, if you're an idiot, such as myself, and actually have no debt and accumulate dollars and borrow it to someone else at a 9% interest rate, you take it up the ass. And if wages have increased over the last 30 years, why do so many people need dual incomes? Perhaps the increase is due to 2 workers, instead of one? Stats of "household income" can get quite scewed when one has watched the change from mainly single earner household, carrying no debt, to dual earner households, drowning in debt. Debt is not wealth, it's the opposite of wealth. How can that be if things have improved so much in 30 years? Do you think most people today have a choice to raise a family in a single earner household like the highschool dropout gas station workers did in the 70's? Although teach, I did buy 100 shares of Range Resources, an oil company, several years back for $5.10 per which then split 1 for 2 a while ago, giving me 150 shares, that closed at 43.89 Friday, so that's good.. I guess. But for the most part, I don't own stocks except in the mutual fund IRA's. Cash is king, if you're an idiot, like me. Hahahaha 9%, compounded hasn't even kept up with inflation over the last 10 years, so, obviously the exclusion of food, housing, and energy from the inflation data makes things look a bit prettier than they otherwise would if things EVERYONE DEPENDS ON FOR LIFE were included. There may be a run on the White House if they did...
